I'm not one for asking for sympathy or condolences, but last night I lost my best friend due to a number of symptoms resulting from old age (14 years, 4 months), and although this was my fifth dog, she was the gentlest, most perfect little animal one could ask for. All I ask is, just look at her picture, say, "What a nice little doggie, I hope she went to doggie Heaven." I don't believe in any of that stuff, but by God, do I ever hope I'm wrong about that stuff.

I'm sure if there is intelligent life somewhere out there in the universe, they are wise enough to stay away from us.

And the people bowed and prayed, to the cell phone god they made...

Thanks guys. Your words mean a lot to me. I promised myself, no more dogs, I don't want to go through this again, but....I may break down and head to the humane society again.

Very sorry for you loss, Steve. Our pup turned 13 last week and is still hanging in there, cancer and all.

Although nothing can replace her, I'm sure there is a great pup at the human society who needs a great home.

All dogs go to Heaven. So no worries there. You'll see her again (unless you're headed downstairs!)

And yes, there are more innocent friends in need of rescue at the Humane Society.
Alright, we'll call it a draw.

Going to Seattle next Saturday. Have tickets for A's Mariners on Sunday.
Other than that, I'd appreciate suggestions for dining and tourist attractions to consider.

Chihuly Garden & Glass is quite beautiful. The gardens are awesome in sunlight, and the indoor exhibits are fantasies of glass. Definitely worth the trip.

Agree with all of this, Chihuly is amazing stuff. I've seen a few of exhibits because my friend does stained glass and introduced me to Chihuly's work. Very cool.

What has happened to this site? I had 100's of unread messages and only about 5% were about Stephen King or the Dark Tower.
