Saw a living legend of metal on his book tour last weekend - Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. Man, I was disappointed - only about 10 minutes of the show was dedicated to Maiden stories, about 70% on his piloting, and another 10% on how he pissed in his Headmaster's soup in High School. ... I think I started off in a shitty mood - upon entering I discovered the free signed books that were given out were sixth printings (gutted)...

So, I'm going through me shelves doing a little rearranging, and looking for a book I can't find, but know I have. Lo and behold, I stumble across a King signed Folio Society "The Shining". I had totally forgot that I had it (I thought I sold my only copy 1+ year ago).

So... the 1970 Gremlin is back in the paint shop getting a 100% do-over on the paint... it was a great 3K paint job... but not up to the 11K job I paid for... unfortunately the owner of the shop just got out of a coma he ws in for 3 weeks, after 5 surgeries due to cancer that came back on him.... so it might be a long while before the Grem Reaper is back on the road.
As a result... I've been in auto-show withdrawals.... which made me buy this baby. Getting shipped to me from New York.

If nothing else, I'm sure your dad knew the '66 T-Bird was a dud. Did you ever watch American Graffiti? Ford fucked it up shortly after 1953, and never really resuscitated the brand. They essentially tried to turn a 2-seater Corvette into a family coupe. Pure mess.
besides... I got a very very good deal on this... I could sink 10 grand into it, and still be well below market value for the car

off the line, Gremlins were duds... but not so much after I sunk enough money into it.
4 car show...3 trophies... including best of show at a show that had 250+ cars.
hagerty's lists the car in perfect condition at $21,400, excellent $14,500, Good $10,000
This one appears to be near to excellent. I paid $7,000... pretty happy with that.
$9K+ per trophy is what you have spent...
I'll give you a trophy for $2k; three for $5.5K.
You will never-NEVER recoup the money you spent on the Gremlin. I get it, that more than half the fun is the building/journey, but anytime you have to build your own billboard to complain about a repair shop; things change.

I like Frank Zappa. Recently, this showed up on ebay. It seems to be a document drawn up by Zappa, his wife and his daughter Moon Unit concerning money she was making for her part of the recording of Valley Girls. It's a cool thing, I think.
Valley Girls was one of the few real hits Zappa had. Moon Unit turned 18 in 1986, she must have had a fun year.
