Your Costco should have two people checking receipts. You need only worry if you are trying to steal something. Shopping at Costco, and being subject to having to pay for something, and provide proof of payment is something you know of and agree to in advance.
No matter what, just remember that Costco loves you...
You guys are right. I try and try not to give them a dirty look because I guess technically I agreed to being detained at the exit until they do their full warrant-less search of my property, but I can’t help but show them just a little teeth.

The whole receipt-checking thing is so weird anyway. If there is a mountain of stuff it's not humanly possible to check that everything's on that receipt.

I could tell you plenty of Costco stories. Most of which would make you feel sorry for the employees and what they have to put up with. In general, hourly Costco employees are decently taken care of, but in any retail environment the staff can tell you numerous funny/uncomfortable/horror stories.Impossible, I agree. I’m totally joking about the dirty looks and pretty much everything I said...just goofing around. I do get annoyed at the exit line but would never take it out on the person just doing their job. This little lady was hitching a ride in the engine bay of my Fiero this past weekend... curled up between the firewall behind the seats and the engine compartment's insulation.
Sure hope she didn't have any baby Rattlers.
I had heard of lots of rattlesnakes turning up in the Austin area this year... but seriously, My V8 engine doesn't need or use a serpentine belt.
Now I feel sorry for the poor snake.
I'm sure if there is intelligent life somewhere out there in the universe, they are wise enough to stay away from us.
And the people bowed and prayed, to the cell phone god they made...
