"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
Sure, I meant something more elaborate.
A UK bookplate doesn't count.

What is wrong with people...
It seems I'm miles above the surface of the Earth
I can see across the whole of London and beyond
Social media is a part of it because reading is a rather anti-social behavior, the quieter the better for most folks. It's also time (money) consuming. TV, internet and if you look up the number of hours people spend watching porn every year, you'll be amazed.
Yay! I'm in the minority. Send me government money - NOW!
I'm sure if there is intelligent life somewhere out there in the universe, they are wise enough to stay away from us.
And the people bowed and prayed, to the cell phone god they made...
you need to research this one online - fortunately most/all of that information/statistics are incorrect. The stats were from a 2002/2003 talk and some of the numbers were inferred from the actual question - which asked how many high school and college graduates had read a book in the past year (not lifetime) - and then they inverted the numbers to get above statistics - but left out the part that the survey was how many books read in past year - not lifetime. So the numbers are still pretty poor I am sure, and the internet, social media have things to do with it - but the stats in this graphic are not correct - just do a search.

[QUOTE=cit74;1102208] Then, as you said, fortunately the information is incorrect. However, I have to say, the statistics don’t seem far off when I think about my various peers throughout my life who didn’t read unless they had to for school, etc. I realize this means barely anything in terms of what the reality actually is, but these stats feel accurate. Perhaps I need to elevate my circles.
