If nothing else, get a flashdrive or a portable HD and back up your important stuff to it once a week or so.

I've started doing that already. I should have been doing it before but I became complacent.

The great thing about dropbox, is that it syncs automatically files in a specific folder to the cloud, and therefore you do not have to manually do a backup on a pendrive etc

John, that happened to me with my last computer (except it was a virus) and I learned the hard way about not backing up my files. After that I did Dropbox and then when my data grew beyond the free amount, I switched over to the Google one.

Last night I accidentally realised by opening a book I got a couple of years ago by my contact at Hodder while visiting her, that the book she gave me... is signed !

Last year, my ex-wife claimed our daughter on her taxes, the year before that I did. Know what I did with my refund that year? Paid people back for prepaying for the book that I was never able to publish. Five thousand dollars in, and five thousand dollars out, in an instant. I'm excited for this year's taxes, I don't have ANYONE to pay back. It's ALL mine.

What are you guys doing with your refunds?

A refund is something people do not get unless they have children 17 years old or younger. I have two dependents (one disabled and one a senior in high school) who are over 17 and seemingly account for no type of tax benefit.

In this thread, as with all threads, posts from the current day are labeled "today" (as opposed to with a numerical date such as 1/11/18 ). When I jumped in now and looked quickly, I thought the newest one said "tomorrow," and for like 1/10 of a second I thought "wait, what?"

I got an obviously fake spam email yesterday that said I had an issue with my Apple account (of which I don't even have) and it listed a couple of transactions. One of them was dated for today. I can only assume it was sent from India or someplace like that where they are actually a day ahead.

I'm sure others have noticed as well, but there has been a dramatic increase in the number of unsolicited spam/scam calls that I receive on my cell. Some automated, some live. I recommend this app as a defense against these calls. The app is called RoboKiller. You install it on your smartphone, and it has a database of over 110,000 spam numbers. It has blocked several calls for me already and is a great time saver.

This is one I received today, which I thought was good for a laugh. Here is the message. It's word for word, so the grammatical errors were part of it.

"Hello this call is from Microsoft security department. We encounter a serious issue coming out of your computer. It seems to be someone is trying to hijack your computer and trying to steal your personal information. If it's not fixed right away then your computer will become obsolete and all of your confidential information may got compromised. If you are the one who is using Microsoft Windows in your computer then please call.... or press 1 to speak with security team now. Please ignore if we called you by mistake. Thanks."

Can you guys please like this facebook page of mine?

The reason : I have another (real) facebook page regarding my community, but I realised that since it's inception, its url is facebook.com/clubstephenking.france
I just would like to "reserve" facebook.com/clubstephenking in order to prevent someone else to use it, as i use that name on all my social media presence.
In order to do so, I would need 25 likes on that page, allowing me to rename this page

    Thanks a lot !

PS : you can like the page but also "unfollow" it afterwards, to make sure that you wont get any notifications from it

I usually only get about one call a day from a number I donít recognize and they almost never leave any kind of message. I always google the number to see if I can figure out if itís an actual spam call or not. Sometimes itís SiriusXM trying to get me to subscribe again. A few times Iíve read that itís someone trying to offer some sort of car warranty.

I usually get more spam email than I do spam phone calls. But even those are pretty few and far between. They are usually great fun to read though. I just got one yesterday that said it was from Ebay saying my account was going to be closed. LOL *delete*

They can be funny. I donít know how my cell number got out there, but I get a lot of these calls. Itís unlikely that I entered it on a site and gave permission to use it, even by accident. Iím guessing there are other ways they obtain phone numbers.

So you got my message yesterday.... You're computer has been sick from virus. Please call me, I mean Microsoft, back at your soonest convenience. P.S. Please have your CC ready when you dial.
