I hope everyone on here from N.Z is all right.

I really wanted to get Metallica tickets for S&M 2 in San Francisco this September, but the buying process was a mess. Tickets were showing up in StubHub before Legacy fan club members even had their presale code.

Why is this the first time I'm hearing about this?

I love the S&M album. I think I actually like that version of Master of Puppets better than the original.

Agreed, especially with No Leaf Clover! Even though the casual Metallica fans dismissed them when the album was released, it was still the one where I became all-in on the band. I’m hoping they do another mini-tour with various symphonies, but I’m not holding my breath.

I loved to see something like that here but I don't think we have a big enough venue. Maybe in KC or OKC.

The Event in September is the opening event for the new San Francisco Chase Center Arena (New home for The Warriors). I don't think they are going to do it as a tour this time.

I'm not a Metallica fan (I admire them from a distance), and since there are some hovering about, I have a question:

What's the story with the album (one of the early ones) that supposedly has bass so low it's inaudible? How can such a thing happen? Did Lars really dislike the bassist and demand this change? It seems every version of this story I've heard is at least a little tongue-in-cheek and I'd love to know what really happened.

    And Justice for all....

Was after the death of Cliff Burton (Real METALLICA)....Jason Newsted was the replacement and they hazed him pretty damn hard...but yeah the bass on that album is definitely subdued(and Newsted was/is a hell of a bassist..just not Burton)

Yeah, they’ve admitted that they grieved they loss of Cliff Burton by hazing Newsted. They are great songs still on AJFA, but the mix could have been so much better.

Was what they did to the album part of this hazing? Seems like that would hurt the whole band.

They were partying hard when they were touring and working on the album. Probably didn’t bother them at all.

That Loudwire article explains everything, especially Lars asking years later, "We did have bass on that thing, right?" and the producer answers, "You're kidding me."

It's a public secret Lars was coked out of his mind and the others were boozers. Dunno, they started touring when they were 18, they started playing arenas when they were 20, they became the biggest metal band with Justice, and they became one of the biggest bands on the planet before they were 30 with the "black" album. They're bigger and richer than ever so they must be doing something right.

I said "black", and not Black because the album's title is actually self-titled.
