Recorded the MTV VMAs and finally got around to watching last night. I know I've gotten old but man, what a crapfest that was!
I admit that I couldn't name one single song of Taylor Swift's and that I don't know why, but I just can't stand her, but she came out the big winner that night.
What songs I did hear during the ceremony had me fast forwarding through them after just a few seconds.
All the performances concentrated more on ass shaking and twerking and tongue action than anything lyrical.
Overall, the music was just annoying noise.

I don't even bother watching anymore. I've usually never heard of half the artists. I just see the commercials for it and when they show who is nominated and/or performing I start to sound like an owl.

Attended a fair about "Rare/old books and collectors books" in Paris this weekend

There were about 150 companies/antiquarians/publishers/artisans and it was interesting to see in person the kind of books I will never own
Books were for pretty much any prices. Starting with low collecting ones (let's say 200e) to thousands, tens of thousands, and even some incunables!
The most expensive book I've noticed, with a public price, were 300k !

Sounds awesome, particularly in Paris.

I usually attend the annual Boston International Antiquarian Book Fair, which hosts book sellers from many countries; that is great for seeing historic and unusual things.

Frankly I was quite surprised by it. I didn't know what to expect, and the entrance was cheap (a tenner but had a free invite), and there were companies/antiquarians/sellers from all over the world. US, UK, netherlands, italy, german, etc

There were about 150 companies/antiquarians/publishers/artisans and it was interesting to see in person the kind of books I will never own
Books were for pretty much any prices. Starting with low collecting ones (let's say 200e) to thousands, tens of thousands, and even some incunables!
The most expensive book I've noticed, with a public price, were 300k !

Sounds awesome, particularly in Paris.

I usually attend the annual Boston International Antiquarian Book Fair, which hosts book sellers from many countries; that is great for seeing historic and unusual things.

The Seattle Antiquarian Book Fair is in three weeks or so, and like every year for probably the last couple of decades I'll be attending...it's progressively featured fewer booksellers and more ephemera / vintage posters / postcards / etc. dealers, but even at a rough estimate of 75% books, it's still a solid fun few hours.

But otherwise, yep, it's just a closed place that provides stuff to break with a baseball bat or whatever... could do the same with a baseball bat and bring your own stuff in a field or whatever, but I live in Paris so...
