    off this morning from regular job (have to DJ this afternoon) - got the TV on and The View comes on... was about to turn the channel, but then they mention Stephen King is a guest today... so guess I'll suffer through Barba wawa and the tampon commercials...

    If anyone notices my absence lately it's because I'm working some long days...lots of 15-16 hour days....also working 7 days a week.

    I said the same thing! Did a tandem jump outside of Tuscon back around 1997, and the best comparison I can give is that stepping off the plane is like stepping off of a raft out on a pond ... well, without the splash. If you stand up on a raft in the water and try to dive off, you push the raft away with your feet and basically fall straight down, the raft just slips away behind you ... that's how it feels leaving the plane. You over-rotate a little the first few seconds, but that falling sensation goes away fast and then it's just loud (120 mph wind with a drogue chute) until you pull, and then it's absolutely silent with only the wind passing through the risers and the rippling of the chute to hear. Very eerie. Bungie jumping? Terrifying because you're so close to the ground and the falling feeling never goes away, it's a much more physical experience. I thought so anyway; I was so disappointed with the skydive I never did it again. Wish I had photos of my jump though!

    Congrats Brice, that's good news ... any money coming in is good money. As for the no-quals/$30K job, there are some that only require a HS degree a no prior experience .... take a look, it can't hurt!

    I am looking around, but I don't even have a HS diploma/GED. I was mostly just being silly though I probably would relocate without hesitation if it would improve my situation. With that said my situation is better than it was just a couple of months ago.

    Definitely thorough. Obsessive would be if you followed him around the country, booked your flights around his schedule, stayed in the same hotels, knew everything about him and his family, collected his signatures and anything related to his stories, stayed days past the ending of events because he did, and ate lunch next to his favorite bookstores hoping to catch him unawares so he could sign a piece of paper you bought on eBay that was his in 1962.

    No books purchased during my New York trip (except for books for my kids), but it was still cool seeing some rare King novels. Especially liked being led up to the private 1st edition room at Argosy Books, and holding some early signed novels.

    Where is Argosy Books located? I spent a lot of time at The Strand before the NYC event, but there wasn't much King stuff there. I was more interested in the leather-bounds and the children's books there.

    Argosy is at 59th and Lexington. Loved the Strand too. My wife cleaned up on children's books there!
