My usage is mainly to make calls. I did very little texting (if I could help it), zero social media, and look up things on my computer. I felt I wasn't hearing conversations well with the last two smart "phones" I owned; hence, the change.

I think I might average maybe 2 or 3 real, actual phone calls a month. And sometimes that depends on how often we order pizza. The rest of my communication with my phone is through texting or Facebook messenger.

I'd estimate a good 25% of my phone usage is simply looking up stuff. Especially when I'm watching a TV show and see an actor and can't figure out why they look familiar.

I do the exact same thing.

I understand the "it makes phone calls" crowd, but when my wife and daughters start watching yet another show about families with 6+ children...or teens having children...or anything involving romance...or any combination of these...man, does a smart phone come in handy (often, it is this very site I go to).

Congrats! It's not easy to do. My good friends and I have all slowly left FB over the years and now we communicate with a small group chat via WhatsApp. It's like we had to rediscover AOL chat rooms all over again...

I will say though, I have increasingly thought about joining FB under a pseudonym for the singular purpose of joining the Small Press Collector's group, which I had never heard of until a member here pointed it out. Hate to be missing out on books...

I know some hate it... but it’s how I see my family who lives away... I sell enough books to support my King habit and I see the news and things that make me laugh... BECAUSE I delete or unfollow the bullshit that is negative or political. It works if you do it that way.

Now that the subject has arisen I'm wondering if maybe one of you more experienced folks knows the answer. When these ads hit your timeline you're given 3 choices when you try to hide/delete...............

1. Not relevant to me
2. I keep seeing this
3. Report blah, blah

Question is do they actually record your responses? Seems like no matter which of the first 2 I choose invariably I see the exact same ads over and over again. Is there another way to delete these and never see them again?

And on a side note, those are 3 very limited choices. Seems to me they would want to collect as much detailed info as possible in order to hone in the ads to be directed at each individual. Plus they should definitely add a choice where you can say "I already purchased and ordered the stupid fucking thing against my better judgement" lol I mean seriously I have purchased & received a few innovative and cool items, but I keep seeing the same ad over and over again!!!! Geez!!!!

I don't do face book, but I see similar things on yahoo mail on my phone, but on my laptop I don't because I use Adblock Plus addon for firefox.

It does wonders, for pandora too. I don't get comercials on my laptop (ok full disclosure, haven't used pandora on my laptop in a few years, so maybe thats not true anymore)
