Is it normal that the forum becomes entirely unresponsive every day around 9 AM CET (that’s 12 AM Pacific and 3 AM Eastern)? Is there some kind of daily back-up process that kicks in at that time or something?

Yes. It is 15 minutes every day at 8.00 am and 8.00 pm GMT in the UK.

AFAIK, the site backs up once a day, at ~midnight PDT, and lasts around 15 minutes.

Just to clarify, the SQL Database file (small file ~500,000 KB) backs up ~12:20 AM Pacific time every day. The webfile (~9 gigs) backs up ~1:15 AM Pacific time. Not sure if the time stamp is when the backup starts, or when it is complete.

I just watched A QUIET PLACE again, and while I really liked the movie, and it has one of my favorite Neil Young songs in it, I have a question.
Where do they get their electrical power from?
If it was a generator, wouldn't the monsters have heard and consequently destroyed it? Or is the generator under a waterfall?
And if it was from, say, a nuclear power plant that was still working on automatic, wouldn't the monsters have heard THAT and destroyed it? This has bugged me from the start, when I saw the movie at the theater and now again on Blu-Ray. Possibly there is a totally rational explanation I have just failed to realize.

My guess is that machine noises don't sound like living things (nothing to hunt) and they screen out environmental sounds of things they can't eat.

RIP, Dennis Etchison. One of the greatest... A while back I had a brief correspondence with him, and he was a very cool and funny guy. I bought some books from him and they were absolutely infused with cigarette smoke. It took me months to get most of the smell out but it still lingers today - and I'm glad it does.

GOOD NEWS! There is a suspect in my burglary. Apparently someone tried to sell a copy of IT and the Dead Zone at a half priced books in a custom slipcase. The person has a criminal history of burglary. Police want me to come down sometime on Monday to identify it. They also said it was in a bag, which might also have been stolen from me. They said they checked and so far he hasn't pawned anything.

I had sent a list of my books and some distinguishing marks to a Half priced books and she forwarded the info to all half priced books in the area with police info. If it is my IT is should be very easy to identify.

I have recently come across some scraps of paper, and although the handwriting is a bit illegible, they seem to be grocery lists, signed by a certain 'S. King'. I can not verify what the 'S' stands for. I have bound these lists in gazelle-skin leather, with marbleized boards, in a custom made slipcase, the front cover of which is alligator hide, and the back cover made from crocodile tongue skin. Each 'list' is Roman numbered from 'I' to 'X' in black ink made from the blood of ostriches, with two of the lists held back, numbered 'Ia' and 'Iaa' in red ink made from the marrow of albatross bones. I will be selling these ten 'books' for $1,000,000 each, plus $4.95 for Media Mail postage.
