I discovered TDT just after The Wastelands was published. Of course then I had to wait over a decade for the conclusion. I was upset over VII and the ending and didn't read King for several years. I've recently completed the 8 volume series in a reread that started a few months back. After a few years away, the reread was refreshing and I'm not upset over VII any longer. My favorites from the series are 4.5 and 5. Those of you who are just now discovering TDT don't realize how fortunate you are to have the entire series at the ready.

Welcome to the site Rock. When I read TDT, all books had already been published so I read them all at once. Love the books and I didn't mind the ending. Now I know why your forum name sounded familiar. There's a new movie coming out with Bill Murray call Rock the Casbah.

All that's left of what we were is what we have become.
My fondness for 4.5 is based on the story within a story within a story. We also get introduced to further characters such as Bix and are left wondering if he made it through the starkblast.
BTW, I've made a couple of posts elsewhere that needed 'approval' but several days later they still aren't 'approved' thus I'm stuck in here commenting.
