Ask not what bears can do for you, but what you can do for bears. (razz)
When one is in agreement with bears one is always correct. (mae)

1. Stumbled across it. wanted to read something different, and was so into it.
2. I like Eddie--- he is the most real to me.. haunted by his past, but trying hard to move forward. Simply imperfect.
3. I have only read five of them so far---- I think its a tie between Gunslinger and Drawing of the Three.
4. 36
5. La Habra, CA

How did you discover the Dark Tower? Started reading Stephen King in high school (back in the '80s), but didn't begin the Dark Tower books right away. Because they weren't horror novels, I didn't think they would be very good... I couldn't have been more wrong!

How did you discover the Dark Tower? Late one November evening in 1983, I opened up my brand new hardback copy of Pet Sematary and saw listed in the front of the book in the 'other books by Stephen King' section a title I had never heard before, The Dark Tower: The Gunsligner. I didn't have the internet to search for it and it was too late to call anyone about it. So, I got about reading and ended up finishing Pet Sematary in one siting then went to school the next day with no sleep. I then called around and found a copy at my favorite book store, Hole In The Wall Books, where I obtained a perfect condition First Edition.
Who is your favorite character? Roland or maybe Blaine. I do have to say though that I haven't finished the series yet (I know, I know). I stopped reading physical books when the evil internet took over all our time and I never got back to it. I stopped in the middle of Wizard & Glass (if you can believe it). I've read every King book and short story (chronologically) up to that year several times but nothing after that. Nothing!
What is your favorite book? I started off reading Night Shift back in '79 or '80 because I'd never read an entire novel before. I was 12. His stories definitely got me into reading in a big way. I tried to read 'Salem's Lot next but couldn't get through it. So, I started on The Shining. Bam! This was the one. The first novel I ever finished. Then my Dad took me to see the film later that year! After that I read Carrie then finally 'Salem's Lot. Now, I was ready for The Stand. This took a while but I relished every word. Every page. Even when I read the longer version, I actually prefer the original partly because of the memory of reading it for the first time. The Stand is my favorite.

“The battle between good and evil is endlessly fascinating because we are participants every day.” - Stephen King
Welcome to your new home.
Skyofcrack: The original Stand holds a special place in my heart for basically the same reason.
