Hi, I'm confused. What's all this about preregistering or something?
Sounds like they are just trying to set up an account, so when it becomes available, they can order it quickly.
I would not sweat it...while I have no doubt it will sell out, I do not believe it will sell out in a day (especially a Saturday when people are away from their computers).

Ok, thanks, tippy, that's what I figured. I'm not going to sweat it either. I'll just check back from time to time.
Purely speculation, but at what point do you think it won't happen today?
I am guessing 6pm EDT.
I think it won't happen at noon PDT.
I think it will happen today.....I don't see them doing it on a Sunday.
Now that King's website has officially announced the price, I do not think S&S will be raising it. Maybe I am being naive, but it is one thing for S&S to make themselves look like assholes, but it is another thing for them to make King look like an asshole.
He is their "golden goose"....and they do not want to ruffle his feathers.

I had to come into work today for a couple hours, and am now ready to go home...but noon PST is just 16 minutes away...so I am going to wait.
When I search UNDER THE DOME on the S&S website, I get 11 results.....I want that "11" to change into "12"!

I suppose it's possible that SK said "yeah, I'll do another s/l for you - but none of this $1K nonsense this time..."
I've been reading a lot of the S&S LE 1k thing on here. What book is that in reference to? Anyone feel like typing a paragraph summary of that situation?

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon Pop-Up Book.
Prices were raised several times, and the final price was $1000.
I think it started around $250.
A lot of fans and collectors were very angry.
It is 12:02 PST...I am heading home!

anytime i can bad mouth S& S i will ha ha
i originally ordered signed limited The girl Who Loved Tom Gorden popup from amazon for 385.00 (at least i think that was the advertised price).
that ordered was cancelled by amazon after S&S decided not to sell it via them.
S&S then offered the limited at 500.00 via their website.... i went ahead and ordered it... my order went through.
after S&S saw how fast it sold out/ the number of orders requested... they sent me an email saying the price was going to be raised to 750.00. i still kept my order in... then i receive an email a few days later stating the price was 1000.00 and if i wanted to keep my order in...let them know....
needless to say i cancelled with a very bad taste in my mouth.
at the very least... a very unprofessional business plan - at the worst, a very shady way of doing business for a publisher.... or for any company.
reminds me of price hiking of goods during disasters when the demand goes up....

Remember, Remember, The Fifth of November, The Gunpowder, Treason, and Plot.
Well, I talked with my contact at Scribner last week and the contact didn't mention to me that it'd go for sale this weekend. That's why it surprised me that news.
Well...I won't take a risk. Keep on refreshing every 30 minutes.

I guess I'll have to wait for it popping up on the secondary market, then... if S&S won't ship outside the US.
And I'm going to use this opportunity to rant about eBay sellers who are not willing to ship outside the USA WHY??? is it such a problem to sell me a book (BIN, for crying out loud!!) which nobody seems to want, with less than 30 minutes left to closing??? It's ME who will be paying for the darn shipping costs, what trouble could it possibly be for the seller to just collect my cash, throw some stamps on the thing and send it away? It's not like HE has to deliver it to my doorstep in person???
Seriously, why do some sellers have issues with international shipping while so many others do not?? You wouldn't believe on how many great auctions I have missed out because of this...
Actually I had the same issue before and asked once why to a seller. He told me he used to sell abroad but had issues with some orders that never arrived and lose money with the transaction, so no more international shipping.

I am one of those ebay sellers who really doesn't like to sell overseas - I do, I just make it a pain.
It's hard to insure the package, and impossible to confirm delivery without using a shipper like Fedex or DHL, or USPS express mail...so the choice is either to ship through them, which is expensive (and prohibitive unless it's a really expensive item), or gamble that it will work out okay and ship without tracking, etc...which I won't do.
So, yeah, it sucks, and I've lost sales because of that...but I don't want to hope a book arrives, and then lose the sale and the book because of a Paypal dispute that leaves me with nothing...it's not worth it to me. But, I do feel bad.
I have shipped overseas, but only on real high-end sales, where the buyer is willing to pay the extra high amount...or if it's a direct, non-ebay sale where they say in the sale agreement where I'm not responsible for any loss or damage (which ebay won't allow).
My wife sells a lot of dolls, model cars, etc. on eBay. She now refuses to ship internationally becuse of the problems she's had. At least stateside, you can prove it arrived, even if the person then opens a paypal claim saying the item was damage when it arrived even though your auction and every communication you have says you HIGHLY recommend insurance since the item is so fragile and they still refused the $1 it costs. ANyways, to many people overseas claimed the item never arrived. One such case was returned their money because Paypal decided in their favor sinne we had no tracking. 2 days later the person listed a coincidentally IDENTICAL item to the one we sold them that never arrived. Paypal could care less. So no more international shipping.
Back on topic, I've been refreshing every half hour and still nothing.

Yeah, I totally understand these issues and I'm aware of them, but I guess you can understand my frustration. It's just that so many eBayers do NOT have problems with selling internationally, which makes it all the more frustrating when you find something you really want to buy... and I've personally bought over 200 books from the US without any problems whatsoever. Anyway, my rant ends here, is the UTD link live yet?
I've decided it's all just a nasty FAKE rumor and the S/L wont go on sale for months yet. You can all quit checking now.
