1, but if I could give it a zero I would. I absolutely hated it.

I LOVED this book. I really enjoyed the ghost story aspect, which he hasn't really done terribly much of. It was also one of a handful (or maybe it's a double handful) of his books that scared me silly--but as I like being scared, that was a big plus.

    5, as if y'all couldn't guess.

    Wow.

I gave it a 5. It ties with IT as my second fave of all time, behind Hearts in Atlantis. I remember getting chills the first time something was spelled out on the fridge with the letter magnets, and books rarely get me like that.

I gave this one a 4. It was a good story but I remember having a tough time getting through part of it toward the end and had to reread a few sections to follow the story. Still, it made me tear up. It was so full of unfairness.

Three. Some good scary aspects, but the whole thing with Kia and her mother was just freaking annoying half the time, especially at the end where
    Spoiler:
Kia sees her mother's "ghost" in the water. Give me a break. *barf*

    4. I wanted to love this on an Insomnia-like level (since it starts in Derry, and I loved IT and Insomnia), and I did enjoy the insights into what a writer's life is like (a WIDOWED writer, at that).

But it didn't really hold my interest as much as I hoped it would.

Gave this one a 4. I remember reading it when it first came out and I absolutely loved it. I recently went back and reread it earlier this year, but for some reason I didn't like it as much as I did the first time around. However I still thought it was a wonderful story, and I really enjoyed the ghost story aspect of it.

I've read it twice. It's had its chance.

It wasn't a bad story, certainly but I think they went into way too much information in the gang rape scene.

Well i sorta agree, but then i like James herberts work which generaly makes that scene look like a sunday prayer meeting. (eg. The Fog, The Others).

I'm reading a Jame's Herbert book right now actually ('48) and I just finished 'The Magic Cottage'. (Well not right now. I'm typing this. Obviously. )

You're right, he can get pretty grim can't he? (Although the Magic Cottage was pretty tame. Good read though, if a bit predictable.)

Oh yes he can be a bit grim.

That scene in The Fog where the
    Spoiler:
school children tied up and basicaly raped the gym teacher
nearly made me stop reading the book.

He is a really good writer though, epecially if you like King, i recomend you try him. (he is called the British Stephen King)

    4. I "read" this book as a Stephen King narrated audiobook. It really breathed life into the story because King new how each character was feeling.
