As I was walking late one night
I saw an antiquated right.
Right to bear arms?
Right of seizure?
Right of way?
Rite of spring?
Rite of passage?
None of those are correct. Try thinking of a different right....
It was to my far left, say true,
and then I (with respect to you)
Are I and U or U and I part of the answer?
Neither is, no.
did see a state of being pass
were, was, be, being, been?
Nope--you were closer earlier....
on my near left, and then just as
important as the number pi,
E
my third companion, walking nigh
to my close right. And thence did come,
on my far right--it struck me dumb--
the question which, if asked aloud,
Why or Y?
would end all questions. Hand to shroud,
I pondered these four clues and thought
of something Leigh enjoys. I ought
Vivan Leigh?
Nope, wrong "Leigh."
to've seen it sooner--how I laugh,
for it's only the second half!
Before me now the answer was,
and if you tell, 'twill give me pause.
Just trying to sort it out. Maybe someone else will put it all together.
Damned good (and frustrating) riddle!
