Yes, maybe I'll remove those nominations, if nobody offers very serious arguments against it.

and how is firestarter still getting seconded, thirded and whatevered when i withdrew my nomination?
I thought since it has already been seconded and thirded, it would be unfair to remove it. But if we agree on discussing only non-King books, it will be immaterial anyway.

I know, - I didn't update the list yet. I actually said "seconded" not to violate the language another time.

I agree about the Sai King books. We all usually read those, regardless. I like that this Club is introducing some books to people. Plus, yes, the SK books are discussed elsewhere.

Jean is there any reason why my nomination of Joe Haldeman's Forever Peace was left off the list you posted?

Never mind, I see you took my suggestion of Rising Sun instead, sorry.

I am really surprised to not see any more modern literature than we are seeing though. Most of the books that are being nominated were written in the early part of the 20th century or earlier. Not saying that I don't read early fiction, I do. I'm just surprised.

I would like to clarify that I didn't intend to niminate Rising Sun, I was simply saying I thought it was better than Jurassic Park. I would like to nominate Forever Peace by Joe Haldeman if I may, say thankya.

How long before January 1st do you think we should start voting? Two weeks should be enough, but Xmas and New Year get in the way, so maybe earlier?

Since i've never taken part in a book club this may sound crazy, but are you nominating books you've read before and know are a good read or books you've always meant to read but never got around to.
Anyway i nominate 1984 by george orwell or the catcher in the rye,i've read neither but always meant to so i may now get a chance.

I think the nominations are a little of both! The main idea, I think, is to have a book you know is widely circulated in book stores and libraries so everyone has an opportunity to take part.

To reiterate Jean's post about rules though, we are limiting members to one nomination, but you can second ,third, fourth, etc. anything you like.
