Never Read
I just gave this one an average. I didn't enjoy it as much when I reread it, as I did first time around.
Not actually one of my favorites, to be honest. Don't get me wrong, it's a great novel, a classic, and scary as hell. Maybe I need to re-read it.
My favorite all-time. Have read it annually since 1976.
I loved it. The large "cast", all of whom seem like real people, the story itself, just one of the greats.

loved it, loved it, loved it. can i vote on it more than once?
I gave it a 4. I thought it was pretty good overall, but not the top of my list.
"People, especially children, aren't measured by their IQ. What's important about them is whether they're good or bad, and these children are bad." ~ Alan Bernard
"You needn't die happy when your day comes, but you must die satisfied, for you have lived your life from beginning to end and ka is always served." ~ Roland Deschain
This is definitely a 5 for me - best book in this section!
A "5" from me, too, it's a classic. Very well written, perfectly composed, genuinely scary, and with one of my favorite characters ever.

i guess i'm the only one that voted "never read it" ...

There's logic in nonsense.
Give me all the bacon and eggs you have.
Start reading, Hannah!
I'm going to have to! I haven't read "Rage" either.

Not only the best King story I've read but the best vampire story I've read...period.
I gave it a four...it's a very enjoyable book, and I too think that it's one of the better vampire books written, but to me it's just not "astoundingly awesomely ridiculously cool."
Elodin: "Tombs is for feckless twits who can't chew their own food. My boy's a Re'lar! He has the feck of twenty men!"
Kvothe: “Books are a poor substitute for female companionship, but they are easier to find.”
Simmon: ”It’s just ointment in case you get burned...but if you mix it with piss, it turns into candy.” Sim’s expression was deadpan. “Delicious candy.”
I feel pretty much the same as Cozener about vampire stories. It may not be King's best to me but it was one of the first ones I read and I was totally hooked by it, from beginning to end, so definitely a 5 for me.

This was the first King book I ever read. Now just look at me!
Dragline : Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me - with nothin'.
Luke : Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

I gave this one a 4. I really enjoyed it, but there were quite a few others that I enjoyed more.

My first King book. I don't think I had pubes when I read it for the first time
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. - Edgar Allan Poe
Bunch together a group of people deliberately chosen for strong religious feelings, and you have a practical guarantee of dark morbidities expressed in crime, perversion, and insanity. - H.P. Lovecraft
