Ok, it's gotta be Johnny Johnny Weissmuller, right? I was thinking about him from the get-go ("adventure series"--Tarzan? Jungle Jim?); but didn't have any more knowledge to come up with a final answer. If indeed I'm on the right track, I might have to resort to Google-fu.

    Ok, Johnny Weissmuller--check

The adventure series is Jungle Jim, produced by Columbia Pictures.

The last three movies supposedly in that series (Cannibal Attack, Jungle Moon Men, and Devil Goddess), he was credited as playing himself due to the rights to the name "Jungle Jim" being obtained by Screen Gems, which it intended to use for television production.

In an ironic twist, Weissmuller was the actor chosen to play Jungle Jim for Screen Gems on TV. Since both the movie series and the TV show were produced concurrently, Weissmuller was essentially playing both parts at the same time, one as "Jungle Jim" and one as himself (basically an idealized version of the character).

In a further twist, Screen Gems was actually a TV subsidiary of Columbia Pictures, so the conflict over the name rights was essentially incestuous posturing.

I credit 70% of the above to Wikipedia. I had an idea the answer was Weissmuller, and likely "Jungle Jim," but the rest I needed to research. I had fun doing so!

Is there a Hollywood actor/actress/director/writer/etc. who you do NOT have an autograph from, who you really wish you did? I can't imagine there are too many holes in your collection!

Since I stopped collecting almost 20 years ago I would say off the top of my head.
    1. George Lucas
    2. Harrison Ford
    3. Ridley Scott
    4. Lon Chaney JR
    5. Ed Wood JR
    6. George Miller
    7. Quentin Tarantino

Also on the top of my want list (WAS) Sissy Spacek (Who I drove 300 miles & paid $80 for tickets to see about a year ago to get my already multi-signed 1st edition Carrie signed by her also took along the Saint Sebastian prop from the movie that she saw & she REFUSED to sign.)
    Spoiler:
I WAS THE ONLY ONE ASKING FOR AN AUTOGRAPH. The only other person to EVER refuse me an autograph was Jack Palance.
