Emailed CD again over the weekend since I hadn't gotten a reply about the refund I requested. Said they hadn't gotten my original email and apologized but would "research and refund". Hmm . . .

good luck. Other then not getting your first email I wonder what other excuse they will come up with if they ever reply to this email.

They have no problem refunding in a decently quick order...so that's a good sign...I've said before, there are a few books I'd like to buy, if they would just get their act together and actually PUBLISH them.

Just read through this whole thread. So...

Is there anyone left who has not requested a refund from Cemetary Dance - besides me?

The only books I have on order with CD are:

    $300 - SOD II, Signed/Limited
$ 40 - BIG BOOK OF NECON, Trade edition

    But now I'm getting nervous.

I'm still in with them for The Complete Concordance, plus 4 books due from their Signature Series and 1 from their Novella Series - about $300.
I'm going to hang in with them for a while longer. According to Brian Freeman on another forum, the four Signature books will be published earlyish next year. We'll see.......

I've still got SoD 2 and a couple Lettered books still on order with them. I'm generally an optimist, so I hope I won't get burned, but they've been pretty good to deal with in the past, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

You won't get burned, not on SOD II anyway...but as for "benefit of the doubt," I think they are way, WAY past that...haha...

I've never bought a single book directly from them. Having heard so many great things about them I'm glad I haven't...and won't be starting.

    Brice,

It's OK to buy from CD, especially items already in stock. Most of the complaints are from CD taking money up front for a pre-order and taking a very long time to produce, in most cases a VERY long time.

I'm good friends with the group at CD. I've personally told Mindy & Brian they need to rethink how they do business. Example: It's OK to give teaser information about new releases, but don't take money until production is 70% done.

I have $3000 invested in CD items on order. The items will arrive. The good news, CD isn't invested in Bernard Madoff

We all have complaints that vary between publishers. I just had an experience with Overlook Connection Press that just floored me; I got blamed for it and removed from his mailing list.

Well, I guess what I'm saying; we've seen issues from time to time with all publishers. Believe me, before our very own Karen stepped in at Grant Publishing, OH MY GOSH, did they have problems.

We need to clone Karen and Robert and put them in charge of ALL Stephen King publishing.

Sorry for the long reply Brice. I've wanted to throw this out on the table for a while. It seems all publishers have some sort of issue, one way or another that doesn't settle well with us. But the truth is, when I want one of the books, I WANT ONE. So, I take a chance and put my order in, sometimes put my money on the table in advance, and wait.

Perhaps, I expressed myself poorly. I would happily buy from them, but I'd never preorder though them with their existing practices. I don't make alot. I can't bring myself to tie my money up for years in advance.

    Just a housekeeping FYI:

I merged the CD 15-Year Anniversary thread (that was buried a few pages back in the forum) into this one. While different books may be the subject, the discussion is ultimately on the same topic: the publisher.

Here is a Dean Koontz specialist marketing the LEGACIES proof as a rare Koontz item, which I suppose it is.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=250351019395

The reason I bring this listing to this thread is the seller's comments about Koontz severing his relationship with CD. I had not heard that specifically nor do I know if it is true or not (but I suspect it is). It looks like we may never get that long overdue third novel about Christopher Snow.

I wonder if that's the reason this book never appeared?

Makes sense...I mean, they probably have signed contracts, etc., but the reality is Koontz could hire a much better lawyer than CD could.

I thought Legacies had single signautre pages for each story, not one big one with all the authors, though...so you'd think they could just cut his story out...but who knows what legal mumbo-jumbo that entails.

If thats the case though, and they've already lost any Koontz work in the future, why not send out an email saying, "Dean Koontz is a douche bag, Legacies is canceled, refunds are forthcoming" - that way they don't loose what remains of their customer base.
