That’s why no one but me touches my books.
It was the first and last time I had to be taught that valuable lesson. I just wish it hadn't been my very first King hardcover. I got it for Christmas the year it was released. I was 14. I saw no harm in lending it to a family member after I raved about how good it was. I got it back destroyed with no apologies let alone an offer to replace it. The aunt who gave the book to me for Christmas died from cancer just 7 years later. That book, that particular irreplaceable book, given to me by a beloved aunt when my extended family was close and when I was first diving into King's works, means so many things to me. To see the state it's in makes me furious. So yeah, never again.That’s why no one but me touches my books.
