Darn, thanks for the picture, now I want one too.
I'm sure if there is intelligent life somewhere out there in the universe, they are wise enough to stay away from us.

Is it just me, or has the proof market grown smaller recently? There are quite a few nice proofs for sale at the moment but there doesn't seem to be much activity...
Which reminds me... I sold most of my proofs but I still have a US Skeleton Crew proof (which I'm keeping). I used to own a UK Skeleton proof in the past as well. I'm tempted to go for Mike Pasiuk's copy as a companion piece to my US proof... hmmm.... old habits die hard....
I just recently started collecting proofs. I pick one up here and there, when my wife tells me I can
My main issue is pricing. I am struggling to figure out the true value on some proofs. I refer to the proof website mentioned somewhere in this thread for reference, but I don't think you can just go off of that. I don't plan on reselling any of these, so I don't want to overpay for them.
And eBay doesn't help at all. Take The Dark Man proof, for example. Right now there are several on eBay. But the prices range from $60 to $750!!! What's the difference? I know CD has produced different versions of their proofs before, a "regular" and an inter-office one. And there were different colored covers for this particular book. Does that make them that valuable? I wouldn't think so.

Proof pricing is definitely tricky. Proofs are an acquired taste, which doesn't help. Personally, I was only ever interested in 'original' proofs, not proofs of reprints (like most of CD's proofs are). I also don't like proofs/ARCs that look just like a paperback version of the trade edition, with full cover art etc. So I would never pay much for any of those (whether they are scarce or not), whereas other proof enthusiasts happily pay big $$ for any type of proof as long as it is 'scarce'. To me it is unconceivable that a CD proof would cost more than, say, an original Firestarter or Skeleton Crew proof that is over 30 years old, yet it does happen.
Bottom line: I would always ask for an opinion here on the forum. All proof collectors have their own bias but I think you'll be able to get a reasonable estimate. And never pay more than what feels right to you (but that goes for every collectible, not just proofs).
Proof prices are all over the place. David has a UK Hearts in Atlantis proof for sale at $135. This has been reduced from $150.
This proof is regularly seen for sale on UK ebay for £10 for a fine copy, and most of the time they do not even get any bids.
Hi everyone - I'm a new joiner, lurker for a while - I've come across a proof copy of Sleeping Beauties in good condition - numbered 152 out of 250 (I think). Has 'EMBARGOED - HODDER & STOUGHTON' watermarked onto every page. I was wondering - is this worth anything and is there anyone out there who'd like to purchase it? Or should I keep hold of it for a few more years...

I only know of three sales - two on eBay for £420 and the last sale for £238. The £238 sale seemed to have an issue with the book by missing the limitation page. I bought my copy for £375. There have not been many for sale. I’m sure there will be a few members here looking for one.
To be fair I haven't seen many of these online - maybe 4 out of 250 copies. I'm not exactly looking to sell it super quick per se, I just want to get a price that I feel is fair.
Not in ideal shape:
Firestarter By Stephen King, Unpublished Proof, 1980 Viking, Rare Item
This Fine one never sold today. It was a BIN of £25 or offers. He would probably take a lower offer.

Last time I heard, a few weeks ago, I was told that it should be soon.
