HELP ME FIND
Insomnia #459
ANY S/L #459
Haha, I just realized the descriptions are the same too. The first one is from the Hyraxia site, the second from ebay. If they had a second copy, they were both a 'fine copy, with minor handling wear, one tiny nick to lower rear.'
1) London, Sphere, 1988. Proof.A fine copy, with minor handling wear, one tiny nick to lower rear. Tan covers. One of King's scarcest proofs with a suggested 6-8 copies printed (though we can find no solid reference to that). [5479, Hyraxia Books].

Totally. I thought it was rather strange, as well. Perhaps, the book was scheduled, in-advance, to be listed on ebay...ended up selling on Hyraxia...book was posted to ebay and subsequently taken down/refund awarded upon realizing they no longer have the book. Who knows?
Ahhhhhhhh, that explains it, and it totally sucks. I would have been really excited as well, and disappointed as hell getting that news. How do you accidentally resell something as rare as that more than 2 weeks after you originally sold it? Seems like a random and strange oversight.

Beckons memories of that Carrie galley proof fiasco on ebay earlier this year...now THAT was a story!
It appeared twice on eBay. Last Tuesday and again today. IMO it's unlikely it was listed twice by mistake.
Haha, I didn't notice that it was listed before that. What the hell? It was ended because the 'item is no longer available' and then relisted a week later again by mistake? Crazy shit. For those that want to see the other listing:

This is intriguing. I 'bought' this book a couple of weeks ago from Hyraxia's website a few minutes after the email went out. Then later, I had my order cancelled and the PP money reversed. They told me it was due to the book being already sold. I put it down to the distasteful practice of someone later offering more for the book or them knowing the seller. I'm not so sure now. I would love to know what has gone on here.

Hi all,
Let me clarify. The book went out on my mailer. A client rang up and bought it within a couple of minutes. Before I had even gotten off the phone, another order came in from the website (via the mailer). Had to cancel that unfortunately. Recently, we stopped using InkFrog for listing books on eBay, but I hadn't removed the the listings, so it posted on eBay. Similar thing happened yesterday. I've now removed the token from InkFrog and closed the account.
There's just one copy, it sold to the first buyer - there's nothing fishy going on.

Thank you for clarifying, Simon. You're one of the good guys and I'm happy you chimed in before this escalated
Thanks Michaël, in my experience there are thankfully more good sellers than bad sellers. But the bad ones out there really do put some effort into it I must say. My favourite was the guy who tried to sell me an inscribed copy of Ian Fleming's The Man with the Golden Gun (Fleming died eight months earlier).
