Why it's interesting is because I'm not aware of this proof having a black taped spine. I know of the white tape spine, but never seen this one. John, what do you think?

In honor of a new book being written concerning the most influential writers during the past 50 years of British publishing, I have decided to share with you all one of my favorite stories - ‘Salem’s Lot. This was one of the first books I read, and to this day is one of my most cherished novels.
While Stephen is not British, his influence on many of the country’s contemporary writers is without dispute. ‘Salem’s Lot was chosen by a poll of many writers as being highly influential in their decision to pursue their chosen field. While the book is in the research stage now, it would be very remiss of me to not share with you all some of the photos that were taken, and a bit of background on the piece.
This is the New English Library Uncorrected Proof of ‘Salem’s Lot. There were four proofs made for this novel in late 1975. One copy was for type setting, one for proofing, one for marketing, and the final copy was for the editor, and are designated as such. This state was not sent out to reviewers, as is common practice today.
NEL memos from the period state that type setting and proofing copies were to be destroyed upon publication, and none of these copies are in my collection. This was the editor’s personal copy and was inscribed in early 1977 by Stephen King.
Lastly, I would like to mention that this proof copy was from the personal library of Atsuko Aoki. She was a very close friend from Japan that succumbed to illness nearly a decade ago, at the tender age of 31. She entrusted her collection to me, where it will remain complete.

Gerald, Gerald, Gerald. Whenever you post something from your collection, I'm usually floored. But this! Oh my. That NEL proof of 'Salem's Lot has taken my breath away. If I'm not mistaken, this is the first time any of us have seen a picture of it. Absolutely amazing! I'm at a loss for words. Thanks for sharing it!
