I can't believe it has the corner snipped off, just like a remainder cut.

That's not uncommon in the "proof" covers of paperbacks. I have a few like that.

I also have some paperback book cover proofs, and they all have a small round hole punched in them.
I'm sure if there is intelligent life somewhere out there in the universe, they are wise enough to stay away from us.
And the people bowed and prayed, to the cell phone god they made...
The last one is interesting, Hannes. Does the proof say where the letter was first published? I know I have it somewhere in my collection and I don't think I have that particular book. Maybe in a magazine? Hmmmmm.
Nothing in the proof saying it were published before .
Did a quick google search and only came up with "Dear Me" results

Good letter. Thanks for posting.
It was excerpted or published in a couple of places online to promo the book. USA Today and The Guardian, for example.
Author of The Road to the Dark Tower, Stephen King: A Complete Exploration of His Work, Life, and Influences and The Dark Tower Companion. Co-editor with Stephen King of the anthology Flight or Fright.
Has a blurb from King:
Mick Garris TYLER'S THIRD ACT 3rd ARC Proof Horror Signature #12 Stephen King NR
The Guardian was in the hard copy too. Does anyone know if it was in the print version of USA Today as well?

Thanks for that. I missed this one. Did CD advertise it?
It was included in one of their Early Readers Club offers, number 7 or 8, I forget which. I also received mine a few days ago. And now I purchased a grab bag, first time I've tried this.

Yep, got mine in Early Readers Club ... 7, I think is what we're on now. Tried a grab bag awhile back, but don't know that I'll do it again ... got two I already had and the rest I just didn't care that much about. At least with the ERC I know I'll be getting ARCs, which I like regardless.

Did we ever figure out how many there were of the rarer of the UK 11/22/63 Proofs? I have one of the 70.
The Catalog reads:
Publisher: Hodder & Stoughton (UK).
Year of publication: 2011.
States: uncorrected proof (trade edition cover art) in two states. 1) Has "Embargoed. Hodder & Stoughton" printed on the pages, 2) does not. The numbering schemes differ as well.
Print run: 400 and 70. This has not been confirmed and they appear to be scarcer than that.
Hi Curt, no, I've not been able to verify the exact number of either state. I contacted the publicity person at Hodder but wasn't told much. I think you're lucky to get one of the 70, though.
John
Someone scored an ARC of Joyland for 18 bucks today.

Quite a few are showing up now in the hands of bloggers -- I've seen several people post pictures of them on FB.
