Not to something Canadian, no.
Ready to get me ass kicked a bit more too
Portsmouth
Wrong-Foot = Not confused?
Long paved road = Autobahn?
Though I did not desire rulership, I governed in the name of the Outsider my god = Something Roman?
Juice of Legume = Some kind of pod?
'but not for you Gunslinger, never for you. you darkle. you tinct. may I be brutally frank? You Go on.'
Once again, VastOne: wrong-FRONT, not wrong-FOOT. "I am not a wrong-front."
Everything else is incorrect as well. Sorry :p
k i think i've got it
I belong only to he who is willing to exhaust my source.
Not sure quite how it fits here
A long road was paved and kept in my honor.
Referring to China trade route
I am not a wrong-front, and after dwelling in the Marina's Maw I went on to the Town of Anthropic Pastures.
Last name of the Right-Back (not wrong-front) of Mansfield Town (formerly of
Portsmouth)
I am the juice of a legume that tries not to be seen as such.
A brand of soy milk
The outsider my god one im not sure of, but is the answer...silk?
Oooh, silk... hmm, I like that idea, Beezer...
you're solid gold // i'll see you in hell
DING DING DING
Silk it is!
Beezer has the answer. Good job my friend!
Here's the breakdown:
"I belong only to he who is willing to exhaust my source."
To get silk you need a silkworm's cocoon, but in taking the cocoon you kill the worm. Hence, you can't get anymore silk from it. The source is exhausted simply by taking it.
"A long road was paved and kept in my honor."
China's Silk Road.
"I am not a wrong-front, and after dwelling in the Marina's Maw I went on to the Town of Anthropic Pastures."
Right-back Gary Silk of Mansfield Town FC, formerly of Portsmouth FC.
"I am the juice of a legume that tries not to be seen as such."
Silk is a brand of soy-milk. Since soy beans don't have mammary glands, it's technically soy JUICE, but no one would drink something with a name like that.
"Though I did not desire rulership, I governed in the name of the Outsider my god. That might help you guess what I am called, eh?"
This was the trickiest one. In Gene Wolfe's series "The Book of the Long Sun," all the male characters are named after animals or animal products, while females are named after plants or plant products. The central character is a priest who is enlightened by a god known as "The Outsider," and because of this divine contact he is eventually elected ruler of his city. Their world for ruler is "Caldé." (called, eh?) The character in question is named...Silk.
A big silky goose for LITB. Thanks to everyone who contributed!
(And VastOne...I'm sorry if it seemed like I was mocking you. I wasn't.)
Whew, I feel like i just took a nice post-Thanksgiving dinner crap.
Excellent riddle, seriously kept me up nights
Far as I know, the winner doesn't have to put up his/her own. I mean, he can if he has one he wants to put up, but he doesn't have to.
Thanks for all the kind words everyone! I'm proud of how this one turned out!
im not sure i can follow that act...it may take me a while to construct one of that caliber.
bear with me
here's a chestnut while i try to build something monumental...
"I never was, am always to be,
No one ever saw me, nor ever will
And yet I am the confidence of all
To live and breathe on this terrestrial ball."
hope
The answer is within
all matter is energy, all energy is GOD
LITB, I believe the convention is one riddle per thread.
Oh, yeah, is has been 1 riddle per, but I was hoping I finally had one
The answer is within
all matter is energy, all energy is GOD
