i'd tell ya... but then i'd have to kill ya.... ha ha
just in case another one shows up- gotta keep quite about just how much i'd be willing to pay (ie. how foolish i am).
i can tell you.... you got out of that auction pretty darn light - good for you i ain't a morning person ... 9:30 is early for me. ending an auction before 6:30 central is insane. - it definitely shorted that seller some dough.
so... if you kick the bucket, tell you heirs i get first dibs on your duma proof.
Since F&Gs are being discussed I turned around and found these two right away. I may have more but don't want to look right now.
These are of Cujo and Danse Macabre.

Those are nice, Dave. I have not seen those before. I suspect that there are prepublication states of various kinds for just about every book. Most are done in small numbers for inhouse use and probably never make it to collectors. Bound manuscripts, F&G's, proofs, etc.
Here is an example of a book with both a proof and a state called "blues" (which looks like an F&G to me).
Stuart Schiff of Whispers Press published THE TOMB in 1984. It was F. Paul Wilson's first novel featuring Repairman Jack. He had made and sent out 10 proofs to reviewers (and then had to buy one on the secondary market for his own collection at a later date). He then did one set of "blues" to use as a final check prior to printing.
I'm a huge F. Paul Wilson and Repairman Jack fan and these items are among my favorites.
Here is an explanation I found:
RF-
Very informative. Thanks.
What about setting up a separate thread for F&Gs or Blues. I have a couple F&Gs that people would find of interest I think and would add to the thread.
On the other hand, just how much discussion might their be on the subject? You are the key dude here so I will let you decide.
Wiz
Dragline : Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me - with nothin'.
Luke : Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
Thanks RF. Very informative. The 'blues' and F&G signatures will be the final stage whether made digitally or otherwise.
I'm amazed at these F&G items. I never have even seen one before, and here are a number of them. Where did you all get them--from the publishers?
John
I just got word that I'll be getting advance copies of the UK Blaze paperback and the UK hardcover Duma Key, both with the publisher's letters.
John
Good for you John!
Thanks, Bob. I guess I'll have to scour ABE more thoroughly! Of course, I probably couldn't afford one anyway.
John
Oh...I received an advance paperback copy of Blaze almost 2 weeks ago. With the letter of the publisher included.

Damn! Where are you guys finding these advance paperbacks?
Actually...I received it without expecting it.
The same happened with Cell. I received the paperback 2 months before it's release.

I have a contact in the UK that gets me these (and the ARCs too).

Here's a pic of the Artist Remarqued/Autographed Slipcased Gunslinger Born hardback I got from the Overlook, along with other assorted stuff.
The slipcase matches the one for the comics. The image is in silver for the hardback and the comics one is gold. And no, I will not be breaking the seal to open it.
Sorry about the photo colours.
Very nice, Rabbit!
John
Very nice.
Congratulations!

Not SK related, but I Just got this.....
It is a 13" tall polyester resin sculpture of THE CYCLOPS from the 1958 classic The 7th Voyage of Sinbad. I have been looking for this for a while as it does not show up on ebay too often, and when it does, the seller usually wants over $200 for it.
I am a big fan of the old Ray Harryhausen films like 20 Million Miles to Earth, Clash of the Titans, and Mysterious Island.
Very nice Tippy. I loved the 7th Voyage of Sinbad.
That is nice, tippy4. I love Ray Harryhausen too and have all of those movies you mentioned on DVD (well, some are on VHS).
I was 8 years old in 1958 and saw that movie at the neighborhood theater. That cyclops scared the heck out of me. Even today it still has a strange effect on me. Weird.
