how much did you pay for those bad boys?!
Initial price of those was $100 each, so you got a real bargain!
John
I paid $210 for my same number slipcased set of 3.
My three newest editions.
First ... the FRENCH hardcover graphic novels for The Stand !!
I did a trade with HERBERTWEST and these were my end!! Thank you so much, J, I absolutely LOVE them !!!
Le Fleau : 1 and 2
These are very cool, oversized, hardcover books - with no dust jackets - those very awesome covers are printed on the hardcover! Here's a shot to show the difference in size between the American GN and the French Editions.
Sorry for the bad reflection on this one - the comic is encased in a plastic holder and it's not very conducive to photos.
Batman # 400 - Anniversary Issue - Introduction by Stephen King!! CGC 9.6 from 1986. It's incredibly hard to find one of these at a grade of 9.8 - this is the next highest, a 9.6
My quest for a Batman #400 graded 9.8 continues! But I do love this one!
The Man In Black Fled Across The Desert...
...And The Gunslinger Followed.
“I’m always on the Batman rule, sir.” - Kate Kane / Detective Comics 857
"It is the story, not he who tells it." Except to us collectors who have to put limits somewhere. - jhanic
Remember, Remember, The Fifth of November, The Gunpowder, Treason, and Plot.
Very nice, Pam. Those French editions are big!
John
Nicely done Pam!!!
Dragline : Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me - with nothin'.
Luke : Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
Congratulations, Pam!!

Awesome, Pam!
I haven't started buying any of these foreign editions yet, for fear of not knowing where this will end...
sk
Stopped at the used book store today while out running some errands and stumbled across this one.... Yes it's an ex-library and the covers a little beat up but it is a 1st edition and only cost me $1 so I couldn't pass it up. An interesting side note is that it is from the school library where I went to High School many years ago...
Sorry about the glare from the flash,
I'd list this one in the "Awesome Deal" thread too! Great buy!
John
I just posted this in the "Pride & Joy" thread, for some reason I don't remember stumbling across this thread before, thnaks to John for pointing the way...

Well, as owner of Betts Books, I have done an admirable job of telling myself that these wonderful rare books I am selling are for the customers, not myself!! (You can't believe the temptation!!!!)
However, I finally went out and purchased a book for my own collection that I have wanted for a very long time. You might not think it's any great shakes, but this book is extremely hard to find. There are zero listings on ABE, alibris, etc.
It is the UK 1st edition of the original 1978 The Stand. A very knowledgable source has told me that there may have been less than 1000 printed which makes it more rare than a 1st edition Carrie or Salem's Lot.
I am quite thrilled to add this one to my collection. Now if it were only signed, sigh. I have a signed Fine/Fine 1978 Stand, signed US and UK revised and expanded The Stand 1990 and of course the S/L Stand. This one is in nice shape with a tight binding.

Congratulations, David!
