Sorry. I shouldn't assume everybody will recognize my references and get the context. Let's try that again:
Picard: After all, Number One, we're only mortal.
Riker: Speak for yourself, sir, I plan to live forever.
-- Star Trek: Generations
Ah, sorry, it's been a while since I last watched Generations. Quote First Contact though and, like Wrath of Khan, there's a good chance I'd get it.
As for the quote: yes, Bearded Riker can live forever. For crying out loud, Bearded Riker was so awesome, they made two of him!

Never underestimate the power of the beard. (Although admittedly, Riker needed it a lot more than Spock did. Bearded or not, Spock always had the eyebrow raise, like God/Matt Berry himself.)

LOL. Thanks. The dinos from the original 3 films would definitely have been real. There would be riots in the streets if it were revealed they were all animatronic.
My idea would basically deal with the fact that the only way they could ever open the park and ensure that there are never any mishaps would be to make them fake and pull the wool over the eyes of everybody. Who knows what they have in store. I just don't want any main land stuff. It ends up feeling too much like a Godzilla film.

So, they are remaking The Crow with Luke Evans starring as Eric Draven. Part of me wants to say hell no to this considering it's one of my favorite movies of all time. But, on that front, Dredd and Evil Dead showed us not all remakes are shit. So I guess I will file this under wait and see.
If you love me then love me..
Since I've been home (Sep 11th), I've been watching a shitload of television and movies. I've always made lists of movies I'd like to see, whether it was a recommendation, a movie poster, a trailer, the title, I'd add it to the list. Well, now I'm actually watching them, and man oh man, most of them just aren't that good. Has anyone seen any of these? I've deleted all the ones I know most people have seen (Earthquake, Escape From L.A., Escape From New York, and the newer movies --After Earth, Premium Rush, The Place Beyond The Pines, Oblivion, Shrek The Musical, Curse Of Chucky, The World's End)
2001 Maniacs: 2/5
33 Postcards: 3/5
Cronos: 2/5
Dolls: 3/5
Earthquake: 2/5
Dear Doctor / Dia Dokuta: 2/5
Childish Games / Dictado: 5/5 (Absolutely amazing)
Kidnapped / Secuestrados (2010): 2/5
House / Hausu: 1/5 (just turned this one off about 45 minutes into it. I couldn't stand it anymore. Ridiculous.)
Anyone one else planning on watching Gravity this week?
I'm keen to watch it, but not half as keen as Filth. It's already released in Scotland, the lucky bastards! (Of course, the Scottish part of me is pretty glad they got it ahead of the rest of the UK, I must admit. )

Ah, okay. That's what I was hoping. Please go pitch this to some studios.
And I really don't want any mainland stuff either.
How was it? The CGI looks awful.
Not this week, but eventually. I laughed when I first saw the trailer in May, but now it seems to be a really intense drama rather than "AHH! I'M TRAPPED IN SPACE AND I'M SCREAMING AND WHERE'S GEORGE CLOONEY AND I'M SCREAMING SOME MORE AND THERE'S EXPLOSIONS!"
A NEW GAME BEGINS
Curse of Chucky's CGI wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and it's only for a very small amount of time. The rest is actual physical special effects. But ... the movie sucked.
I think Gravity might be the transcendent sf film I was hoping Elysium would be, but was sorely disappointed. Not sure how long it will be 'till i make it to the theater to see it, but I will.
I just watched We Steal Secrets, so I'm curious about the Cumberbatch as Assange film, as well (title? I'm too lazy) This is intriguing stuff.

I'm thinking about seeing Gravity in IMAX. I've never seen a theatrical film in IMAX and I'm thinking this might be a good film to choose as the first time. My local theater doesn't have IMAX so I will have to travel about 30 minutes. Not too bad. Also, it's super expensive.

20 movies that shouldn't be remade or have sequels (3 SK movies make the list):
http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-...235511819.html
I agree with most of them but I think there have been some decent sequels and remakes of some movies. Toy Story 2 & 3. Empire Strikes Back, Back to the Future 2 just to name a few...
We do a lot of polls/lists around here. Have we ever done best movie remake/sequel?
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?
no, we haven't! Maybe we should
and their list is sooooo incomplete...

Watched Europa Report last night. It was really interesting and disturbing (but I have a phobia of space to begin with). Unfortunately, my personal theory is if this were real,Spoiler:

You're the only person I know that has seen Europa Report. I was actually disappointed with the film. I was expecting a little more I guess.

I was also slightly disappointed with it as well. thought there would be more to it...didn't like the way it was filmed...but I guess they wanted you to see it from the astronaut's point of view?
Does whatever a spiderman does.
I hadn't even heard of it until my fiance wanted to watch it. What would you have wanted to see? I'm reading a lot of reviews that say similar things. I actually liked the way it was shot (most of the time) because it did sort of lend that claustrophobic, shuttle atmosphere. There were a few points where it could have been done better, though.
It wasn't my favorite movie or anything, but it was good for a weekend movie night. Like I said, I have a phobia of space and all the things that can go wrong in space, so watchingSpoiler:
Actually, I'm also a little disappointedSpoiler:
