There are so few films that interest me anymore. I do not get options to view limited releases in my area. I only receive the big money films. Seems sad that investors do not want to connect to more viewers. It seems like only the few big markets get feed different viewing options.

Most of those limited releases go to streaming or on-demand.

This is kind of random, but since we have talked about limited releases pretty often and how they are hard to find in theaters, I wanted to mention that my dream is to own a 1 or 2 screen theater that would solely play limited run films. Since a theater like that would never survive in today's climate, my idea is to have it be a coffee shop/theater.

It will probably never happen, but a guy can dream.

You’re not alone in thinking that a good idea. If done in just the right locale, in just the right building...who knows?

There's one indie theater in my general area, and when I say general area I mean about 30-35 min away, that plays only indie films. Of course it's situated in a city where that type of theater would do really well. They have 4 small cinemas, and 2 extra ones in another building which are even tinier. But they often sell out so you have to buy tickets in advance. We made the mistake of going to see that Mr. Rogers documentary recently without purchasing them beforehand. Got there well before showtime and it, along with everything else playing at that time was sold out. I really do wish more towns had theaters like this though. It is a shame that there aren't more of them around.

That sounds like an awesome theater. My hope is that we start seeing more of these kinds of theaters pop up. I think there's a niche audience for it.

We have the famous Laemmle theater here in Hollywood and they play every movie you can imagine, from the nichest-niche to the biggest blockbuster. My only gripe is that 1) street parking is incredibly difficult to find, b) structured parking is pricey.

We also have Arclight in Pasadena which is amazing.

Lovely selection! I wish my father had had an interest in horror and watched stuff with me.

And still I don't think anyone here has seen Inside yet. Although, it is more of a Christmas movie. I've been talking about it for nearly a decade now, hopefully someone will finally take the plunge. BTW, not safe for any kid and most adults.

That really had nothing to do with your list, Shannon, just my pills kicking in....

I'm trying to keep her away from slasher/uber-violent types of horror for now. The Halloween finale would have been Child's Play, as she's been bugging me to watch it, so I rewatched the deaths in the movie, and all were fine except for when Chucky s breaking the Voodoo guy's limbs one at a time and then when he electrocutes someone else, slowly, brutally. Nope, not yet. Maybe when she's six, lol. So, no Freddy, no Jason, no Strangers, no Saw, etc.

Probably a wise decision. Some of my earliest memories of films were seeing the woman being chased through the house by Leatherface with his trusty chainsaw and also the scene in ANOES where Tina is in the bloody body bag being pulled down the hallway. Another early memory is Reagan and the split-pea soup vomit scene. I saw all those walking into rooms were an adult immediately told me to leave but saw them I did. Some things can wait, definitely. LOL By the time I was ten or eleven, I had rented every horror film my local video store had.

By the way, none of that scarred me as much as walking in on my dad watching porn one time.

If you've been to the movie theater within the last month, you've no doubt seen a trailer for a film none of us are asking for and a film that truly has nothing to add to the cinematic landscape. If you haven't guessed it by now, I'm talking about the new Robin Hood film.

I'm a big fan of Foxx and Taron Egerton, but we just don't need another Robin Hood film. I'm not sure what Hollywood's fascination is with that property.

If you are going to make the film, and you shouldn't, at least make Robin Hood female. At the very least that would be different.

So the only Robin Hood movie I've ever seen is the old Disney animated one. I can't even begin to count the number of times we watched that when we were younger.

I've seen the Disney version and the Mel Brooks Men in Tights version. I think that's all I need.

Speaking of Robin Hood, I'm tired of seeing the same trailers in the theater. Robin Hood, Overlord...

Escape Room looks surprisingly good, though.

Yeah, I seem to be getting the same ones regardless of studios or the kinds of movies I'm seeing. I actually haven't seen the trailer for Escape Room yet for some reason.
