Me too, although I've always been anti-reviews until I see the movie. I also get super annoyed by trailers sometimes because they give away too much.

Yeah, I have a feeling Us is going to go the route of, "OH MY GOD BEST MOVIE EVER GO SEE IT!!!!!" over-hype. These people who are seeing it are the first in the world, it's already been hyped up, and seeing a film at a festival/with an exclusive group of people ALWAYS improves the experience. Take reviews at this point with a grain of salt.

"Us" Movie Discussion - *SPOILER ZONE BEWARE*
This thread is for spoiler discussion for Jordan Peele's most recent film - US.
No need for spoiler tags here.
Jordan Peele burst on the scene as a director two years ago with Get Out. The film was somewhat of a phenomenon, resonating with audiences and critics alike. Get Out was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture and won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
The film was lauded for its strong themes of race in America. For these reasons alone, everyone couldn’t wait to see what Peele did next.
To say Us is a successful second effort is an understatement. While it’s not quite as good as Get Out, it’s successful on a variety of other levels. One place it fully succeeds is in being a straight-up horror film, whereas Get Out leaned closer to thriller.
Get Out was fairly straightforward with its themes, but Us offers a lot more in terms of discussion. For me, the tell tale sign of a film I really enjoyed is how much I think about it after the credits have rolled. For Us, I’ve thought about it every day since seeing it.
Unfortunately, I’m not sure I can fully express my thoughts without seeing it again. For example, I’m not totally sure what kinds of commentaries Peele was trying to offer in the film.
Of course, there’s the easy one of being our own worst enemy, but I think there’s a lot more than that. Themes of consumerism and the gap between the haves and the have-nots are things I picked up on, but that I’m not fully prepared to flesh out on my own.
One question I could pose is do you think Adelaide remembered the entire time who she was, or do you think she came to that realization later in the film? I feel she knew from the start of the film.
Anyway, I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts. Eventually, this thread can be merged with the horror thread.

While it does have some good cinematography and performances, and people love digging in and discussing "deep hidden themes" at the end of the day the cinematography/performances Are in service to a poorly constructed, tonally schizophrenic "horror" movie too inept to clearly get any point it was trying to make across.
