Sorry but I just love these:
Keep 'em comin'! I'm adding them to my "watch later".
I can't believe it's already December. These mashups have reminded me that I have to start putting my movie lists for this year together. I started doing that tonight. One issue I've been battling with pretty much since I saw the film was what we are going to do with Split. Is is considered a 2016 movie or 2017? I'm on the fence on this one. I'd love to know an official designation on this one too.

I have it on my 2016 list: http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/...=1#post1083267
The way I look at it is you're creating a list for the movies released during a particular year, not when you saw them. I saw Split in early 2017 as did most people, but according to IMDB and Wikipedia, it came out in 2016. It's like if you would be making a list for any other year, say 1930, you have to go by exact release dates, not when you first saw it. That's my thinking...
That's my philosophy too. But there are a few factors where I make an exception. One of those is if the film is being considered for that year's Oscars, which would technically be 2018 in this case. Then I'm more inclined to include it with my current year's list. In this case, 2017.
It is tricky because a film like The Lost City of Z is being considered for 2017 because it was widely released in April. On IMDB, it's listed as 2016. For this year when I compile my lists, I will be including it. However, as time passes, the lines get blurred and when I put together my larger list for every year, it will probably fall back into 2016.
It's enough to make me crazy!

Got my tickets to see The Shape of Water this Friday. So fucking stoked.
And you already have your avatar changed? What if you hate it?!
A NEW GAME BEGINS
Not gonna lie, I was thinking the same thing to myself as I switched my avatar today. But it's a GDT film, what are the odds that I don't at least like it?
That's what I keep telling myself anyway

Interesting picks (and good write-ups, Mike). I've only seen three on your list (Life, A Cure for Wellness, and mother!) and though I don't personally consider them underrated from a storytelling perspective, I can definitely see the aspects in each (especially sound design and visuals) that would lead to that conclusion. Netflix just send me Wind River, which I'm looking forward to.
A NEW GAME BEGINS
Thanks, Ricky! I think you will like Wind River.

With the Oscar season upon us, I found this rather appropriate and hilarious:
