I'm excited. I really liked TFA a great deal, despite the similarities to Ep 4. I was somewhat lukewarm to TLJ, and disagreed with most of Rian Johnson's choices, although I understand what he was trying to do. I think he should have extrapolated more from JJ's original intended arc.
I also have concerns about JJ trying to "fix" the sequel trilogy by retconning TLJ. But I'm optimistic.
ETA: I think Rey is too young to be Ben Kenobi's daughter, given when Ben died. Unless you're going the miracle birth route that they implied for Anakin in the prequel trilogy? If so, I would say to JJ - doing a dumb thing twice doesn't make it less dumb.

If anything it’d probably be Obi’s sister or whoever (JJ would love to use “there is another” twist a la Empire I’m pretty sure) that would end up being Mama Rey
The teaser trailer got a good laugh out of me. Star Wars has finally become a parody of itself. You know Rey stared in one direction while breathing heavy, and then turned her back, and then looked back over her shoulder, because she thought 'This is gonna look badass in the trailer!'

Pardon my ignorance, but what does the above bolded and highlighted phrase actually mean to the franchise? There will be no further movies/stories along the Vader/Skywalker storyline main plot? Or are we looking at progressive trilogies? Or maybe more to the point, there will not be an episode X (10)?
I admit I'm a bit confused. I suppose that has been the case since, Lucas announced SW I right after Ep. 6!! lol lol Even though I would have bet serious money that, Rey was a Skywalker I thought they were getting a little thin in the bloodline for sure!!! lol Can anyone clear this up for me a bit?
Thanks in advance. I love these films even the ones the fanboys dislike. Solo was good (maybe not great) and I agree tat Rogue One is up there with ESB as one of the better films, but I have always had an affinity for the main story line of "episodes" I suppose.
Ep IX is reportedly the final movie in the Skywalker Saga. While there may be other movies and TV shows set in the same universe, the "main sequence" of films is done. No Eps X-XII. No negative-number Eps.

I agree. It's a pretty big universe and there is no reason why they could not have another set of movies that don't deal with the Skywalker story. In fact, I hope they do keep it going.

Not knowing Star Wars...knowing DISNEY. Everything they'd made for Star Wars thus far has been seeping in nostalgia for the original trilogy. Truth is, as a company, they have no idea how to make anything new. Even with an existing IP, making something wholly original within it, without any old characters or ties to old characters, without rebels vs. empire or whatever...they just don't know how to do it. Their spinoff Star Wars Stories could've been just that...wholly original, but based on an existing universe, but they went full blown nostalgia.

Gotcha and thanks for clearing that up for me. I would expect an Ep. X in some form as however they finish the saga, life would/did go on from there. My best guess would be another central family/figure that continues the struggle so to speak. I really hope Disney figure out what to do with this property. I think having multiple 2-3 movie series, each helmed by a different director/show runner, could work. Each series would have a clear consistent vision and style, yet be independent enough not require a single showrunner to coordinate all of them.
You could get away from a single overarching "empire vs rebellion" motif, and tell more personal stories and smaller scale adventures. They could then return to a larger scale conflict after establishing some world building in the post Empire world.
I have liked the new Star Wars films, by and large, and have high hopes for Ep IX. But I can understand why Disney want to pause and regroup before greenlighting any more movies.

Honestly I think they'll do what Marvel has done and just drop the episode numbers entirely. I'd actually love for them to skip moving forward and go backward in time. Some movies set in "The Old Republic" I think would be great.
At Disney.... talking to a staff member about that new park. Man he gave us goosebumps. He also said the hotel that’s a starship Destroyer.... $2000 a night and a 2 night stay... no more no less. He also said sold out for 4.5 years already. Opens in 2021. I’ll be damm near 50 if I booked now. WTF

As part of the great release date shake-up, Disney announced that three new untitled “Star Wars” films that will come after “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” brings the Skywalker spinoff saga to a close. The first installment of the new trilogy will hit theaters in Dec. 16 2022. There will be two other follow-ups to during the Christmas corridor on Dec. 20, 2024 and Dec. 18, 2026. Disney is poised to dominate around the holidays for the foreseeable future. The studio is alternating between “Avatar” and “Star Wars” films every year through 2027 starting in 2021. In 2020, Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” adaptation” will bow on Dec. 18, while “Cruella” will launch Dec. 23 ahead of the long holiday weekend.

Haha look I agree with both of you. But they’re a big ship, they have the mobility of titanic. And now they’re making a lot of changes in a relatively small period of time. That’s out of character for them. Solo’s under performing caused them to totally rehaul their approach to Star Wars. The majority of their properties are no longer organic creations but rather acquired cash cows. You know they’re worried about the departures of RDJ and Evans from their flagship. Ultimately it’s a bunch of billionaires nervous that they may become millionaires, but Star Wars went into hibernation from Reurn of the Jedi in 83 until Thrawns trilogy was published in the 90s. Disney has to be a little nervous that cycle could be repeating right after their check to Fox cleared
