I think they just went for Four because he's one of the most popular and was the Doctor for the longest.

technically doesn't the award for the longest and shortest reign as the doctor go to Paul McGann when you think about it

You know what, I can imagine it being tough to adjust to colour - especially at the start when, right from that title sequence, it's about as colourful as you can get! Pertwee's early seasons are a regular psychedelic rainbow! You get used to it.
Can't quite see the Liz Shaw/River Song resemblance myself. Oh, and how awesome is it to see the Brigadier again? My favourite part of the Pertwee era is that he's a regular character - he's practically the Watson to the Doctor's Holmes.

Oh yeah. Watched that episode countless times. One of my favourite moments of last year was the fact that the bastards had finally finished Eight's story. I also loved how it brought a nice ending to the 'classic' era with "Doctor no more". One of my favourite aspects of Day of the Doctor was how it celebrated 50 years, including the stuff we didn't see during the time it was off the air.
Did you see Day of the Doctor by the way, tippy4?

Maybe I'm confusing this but they're counting 10's metacrisis in Journey's End as a regen and also the 8 to John Hurt regen as seen in Night of the Doctor short.

New e-book Tales of Trenzalore is out next month: http://www.doctorwhonews.net/2014/01...114163012.html
I'm really looking forward to this. I like the idea of exploring more about the 11th Doctor's final days. It'll also provide a slight break from the New Adventures (which I'll post some thoughts up soon as I'm done reading the 4th novel) while still providing my fix of Who.

Huhn; looks like you're right; he did say "number ten."
I guess that makes the numbers canon after all."Well, number ten once regenerated and kept the same face. I had vanity issues at the time."
But even though David Tennant was technically the 11th and 12th incarnations, Doctor number ten still refers his face, clearly. The evidence:
"Used the regeneration energy to heal myself, but soon as I was done, I didn't need to change. I didn't want to. Why would I? Look at me. So, to stop the energy going all the way, I siphoned off the rest ..."
~ The Doctor, just after his 11th regeneration,
Episode 4.13, "Journey's End"
When did Tennant regenerate without changing? And would that really count as one? I would think it would only be a partial regeneration at most therefore not taking up an actual regeneration.
Only the gentle are ever really strong.
I've seen it, it's just been awhile. What ep was it during, maybe I'll go back and rewatch that one.

Ep. 4.13 "Journey's End" It's called a meta-crisis, whole thing with Donna & Rose. I posted a coolish, relevant pic on this thread a while back.

Since you have seen it, Heather, I'm sure you'll remember what we're talking about if I find that picture again.
Um... *flip, flip* ... OK, here it is...
If it's onscreen, it's canon. So if anybody else says that it doesn't seem right to count David Tennant twice, just show them this!
And as long as I'm reposting images, let me show off this collage which I made a few weeks before the premiere of "Day of the Doctor" once again.
I'm still so proud of it because you can see it predicted McGann's return, predicted the appearance of all the former Doctors (with special emphasis on Tom Baker, please notice,) and predicted the attention given to the different looking sonic screwdrivers.
