He continues to do audio work, at least. He recently appeared in the most recent Big Finish subscriber bonus release Trial of the Valeyard, and that seemed to hint at further appearances in the audios, at least.

Question... before I panic. I managed to find all of Season 1 of Doctor Who Classic thanks to a friend who had some of the more 'rare' episodes... but I can't seem to find some of the episodes from Season 2 on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, or my *coughillegaldownloadscough* other sources.
Do they still exist somewhere out there? Can I skip right from the Giants in Season 2 to The Rescue, missing all of the Dalek invasion?? It certainly sounds like something I don't want to miss, but I can't find it anywhere!

I agree with everything except about the new Doctor. I was never really a huge fan of Matt so I'm excited to see someone else take over the role. I'm also excited we're going to get an older Doctor as well. I think it'll give it a slightly different feel.Loved the Christmas episode, with the exception of two things:
- The "blink of an eye" regeneration scene. It completely flipped the mood and I didn't like it. My first impression of the Doctor is not a good one
- Amy Pond. Now, don't get me wrong, I loved Amy Pond and her entire storyline. But the last thing the Doctor saw should have been Clara. She is the companion now, and she was completely pushed aside in the end. She was made to seem unimportant.
As for Amy, I'm sure I'm also in the minority, but Moffat really made me hate her in the end. I liked her when she first appeared, but then they just dragged the Amy and Rory story on too long, that I wasn't even sad to see them go, I was overjoyed. And then like you pointed out they should have focused on Clara at the end.

Really, Heather? Not a fan of Matt at all? He's not my favourite, but I thought he was a marvellous Doctor. Out of Eccleston and Tennant, he convinced me the most that he was an ancient alien who didn't fit in well with humans. And that always impressed me, considering how young Smith is, but he always just seemed older than other incarnations, if that makes sense. I'm super excited about an actor as brilliant as Capaldi taking over, but if it hadn't been someone as brilliant as him, then it would have taken me a lot longer to warm up to the idea of a new Doctor than usual, I think.
As for Amy and including her at the end - Moffat dragged the Ponds out story for longer than it should've been, I will agree, but at least it was better handled than Rose, especially in Journey's End. I thought it was fitting that Eleven saw "the first face he ever saw" one last time. Amy and the Ponds were the closest thing the Doctor had to family for a long time, so it was a nice final way of saying goodbye to 11's era.

I'm sorry, Shannon. I think she's brilliant in series 1, ok in series 2, but the romance between her and the Doctor just seemed rapidly forced at times, and then just when she's given a BRILLIANT, tragic ending...Journey's End happens. I'm still pissed at RTD for that stupid meta-crisis ending.

By the way, has anyone watched the regeneration again since and thought, "Actually, it's not too bad." Because watching it again on the second take, I've really grown to like it, certainly a lot more than the first time when Capaldi came out of nowhere. I think once you get past that initial shock, it's easier to like, imo.

I didn't hate Matt, but he was far from my favorite. But I think it also has to do with my lack of interest in his seasons for awhile there.
And still not a fan of that regeneration scene. Sorry DD. The sec Capaldi shows up it's pretty cool, but the lead up not so much.

Yes. And also seeing it a second time with the foreknowledge of how it happens I think it's logical.

Wait, really? While I can agree that having the BIG blast on the clocktower and then showing younger Matt could have been better handled, I thought the actual final scenes of Matt were beautifully written, certainly far better handled than Tennant's final scenes. Because it stays true to both the idea of regeneration - that things change, which can be both sad and wonderful at the exact same time - and to Matt's Doctor. David's last words of, "I don't want to go" is one of my least favourite last lines for a Doctor, if I'm honest. Matt's speech of how we all change and how he'll never forget the times he had in his 11th self was beautiful and completely fitted both his Doctor and the Doctor. It's not quite up there with Pertwee and Eccleston's final moments as the most moving I've seen for a regeneration, but it does come close.
And we won't be getting any new episodes until autumn next year.

i didn't think the regeneration scene was that great either. it was ok but with the Special FX we have for the show now. they've done better in the current show. for me it doesn't really bother me that they used Amy. yes she was a Companion of the past. but she had a bigger impact on the doctor that Clara i think. and when you think of Matt Smith's doctor you think of Amy Pond, kinda like with Tennat for some you think of Rose even though he had other companions as well.
with Tom Baker's it's Sarah Jane mostlty even though he also had other companions too. well this is how i think of it anyways. i enjoyed the x-mas episode actually. even though it did have it's flaws. did the jokes run to long on the nudity bit? yes they did. them aging the doctor didn't bother me. in fact them having him as an old man and looking like Wiliam Hartnell a little bit at the end didn't bother me either. i kinda liked it. hell we saw the master as an old man as well. why not the doctor?
