I'll pick them up on Thursday (they're closed Sunday through Wednesday) for you. Do you want any of the The Official Doctor Who Magazines (Marvel) or The Magazine of Time and Space: Doctor Who Monthly from the 1980s/1990s? If you might want some of those, I'll just buy 'em all in case. lol

So the books and mags have already arrived! Far sooner than I thought they would, too.

Thank you so much stkmw02, you've really made this fan's day!

As for Last Christmas: while I'm currently not too sure on the ending, overall, I thought it was great. And as for the Volcano:

    Spoiler:
The first time, yes, the second time, at least, was real. In fact, I kinda like that the Doctor being there was left a little unexplained what he was doing there. One of my favourite little things about the show is the clear indication that the Doctor has a ton of adventures we don't get to see often.

Love your signature by the way, Jon.

Awesome! Colin Baker's and Nicola Bryant's friendship is one of the most awesome I've seen, so seeing the pair together should be awesome!

Yep, all novelisations of classic series stories from the 70s and 80s. Nice mix of UK and US publications, too.

I'm looking forward to that. But not quite as much as I'm looking forward to this:

    Spoiler:
Doctor Who: The Sixth Doctor: The Last Adventure

2013, we had not just Smith's regeneration story but also the much more long awaited one of McGann's. However, while Colin's Doctor technically did get a regeneration at the start of Time and the Rani, it was such a badly rushed job that not only was there no actual reason for why it happened (it was implied to be because of an accident when the Rani hijacked the Doctor's TARDIS, with the novelization claiming it to be 'tumultous buffeting'. 'Tumultuous buffeting'? What the fuck does that even mean?) but even worse, Baker (understandably) didn't even show up for the regeneration scene, with the considerably shorter McCoy in a wig taking his place! So a story taking place just before the infamous Time and the Rani by Big Finish is long overdue.

There have been takes on the Sixth Doctor's regeneration story in literature form, particularly the official 'Spiral Scratch', (which I haven't read,) and the completely unofficial but still fucking awesome story Time's Champion (which I read in 2 days). Interestingly, like The Last Adventure, this also featured 'one final encounter with the Valeyard'. But finally getting a take on it featuring Baker himself playing the role one last time (well, chronologically, although he'll still continue to play the role for many years yet) has made me so happy. I've long awaited Big Finish to do their own take on Colin's final story. Knowing it's going to be a 4 hour epic set across his entire Big Finish era brings tears to my eyes. :') I genuinely can't wait.

(In the meantime, I think I'll build myself up for it by watching/listening to Six's entire era on DVD and audio. )

What's the spoiler tag for? Don't want people who haven't seen the 7th Doctor's premiere yet to miss out on the surprise that he regenerated from the 6th?

More to make it just a bit more of a surprise (for those who haven't seen the link on my facebook page and seen my "OMG!" reaction, at least). Also, when I'm this excited, I tend to type up a LOT of thoughts, as you may have noticed from my blogs.

It sounds cool, exactly because he didn't get a good conclusion on tv. It's just funny to think of trying not to spoil the anti-climax. :headspin:

Oh yeah, it was one hell of an anti-climax. Time and the Rani is far, far, far from the best Doctor Who story. Hell, it's far from the best "new Doctor" story. But a finale to Colin's Doctor should be great. Especially by Big Finish. Plus, the return of Jago & Litefoot, two of the greatest creations the show ever gave us. (OK, admittedly, they're not as influential to the show as, say, the Daleks or regeneration, but damn, are they a fantastic pair of brilliant characters.)

    Oh. My. God.

UNIT: The New Series - a new spin-off from Big Finish Productions starring Jemma Redgrave as Kate Stewart

This is huge stuff, guys. After nearly ten years since the show came back on TV, this is the first time the company has been allowed to tell stories with characters exclusive to the new series (well, almost - while she had never actually appeared in the classic series, Kate Stewart had originally been created for a couple of 90s barely licensed spin-off videos, although the character had never been portrayed by Jemma Redgrave until The Power of Three). It may mean we might get stories from BF with the 21st century Doctors (even if Eccleston won't play the character again, it would be nice to get more stories with his Doctor), and stories for those Doctors written by the incredibly talented writers at Big Finish would be brilliant.

But even if this series doesn't eventually lead to BF New Series stories, the last season of UNIT, a box set of 4 episodes called Dominion that featured the 7th Doctor, felt as brilliant and epic as the best season finales of New Series Who and Children Of Earth, so seeing what they can do with the modern day stuff is something I'm really looking forward to.

    A couple things:

    1. Just finished reading Shada. Amazing adaptation of an unaired Douglas Adams script for Tom Baker's doctor. If you haven't read it yet please do yourself a favour and do so.

    2. I am so looking forward to this next season, except for one thing. Clara. She needs to be gone in the worst way. Cannot stand her, not even a little bit. I would rather have Martha back than Clara, and Martha was terribad too.

Shada is brilliant. I love that novel. I'm looking forward to the novelisation of City of Death, also by Gareth Roberts. Have you heard the audio adaptation of the script with McGann's Doctor? That's another great version of the story.

As for Clara...I must admit, I did find it disappointing that, after the number of exits her character had had already, her character was revealed to be staying on for season 9.

In the meantime, I'm just gonna fill the gap with more Big Finish. The final season of Eighth Doctor arc Dark Eyes was brilliant, and I've already pre-ordered the next 16 episode epic, Doom Coalition. Currently re-listening to Dark Eyes to see how well the whole story flowed together.

    Oh. My. Gosh.

MORE NEW SERIES DOCTOR WHO FROM BIG FINISH

I'm so excited about this. You guys all know by now how much I love Big Finish, but this is something I've been really hoping for for a long, long while. To me, it's even better than getting new series era Doctors on board, since mixing new series monsters and companions with classic Doctors is SUCH a great way of merging the classic and new series even further. And Alex Kingston in the 2nd season of the new Eighth Doctor series? It just gets better and better!

I listened to The Sixth Doctor: The Last Adventure earlier.

Without going into too much detail, it was such an emotional listen. Especially the final episode, 'The Brink of Death'. It's such an epic, bold and brilliant little story for Colin's Doctor. Can't lie, the last few scenes really brought tears to my eyes, and gave a really great send-off to the Sixth Doctor. Well worth a listen, especially to fans of big, emotional regeneration stories.

    Regarding the Magician's Apprentice:

Wow! I really enjoyed it! A great, epic scale episode to begin with, and I really loved how many shocks there were throughout, both in terms of twists and in terms of scares. (The 'mines' at the start really stuck out.) Anybody else watched it yet?
