Awesome stuff, Bev!
Now re-watching the TV movie. 18 years ago to the day, I watched this, and it changed my life forever. Yes, it's far from the best story, but I didn't care: I just loved the story of a bonkers alien in a magic time travellingwardrobepolice box who could come back from the dead in a completely different body. 18 years on, I find those ideas just as magical as I did then.

Not yet. One day eventually though, I hope.
And yeah, it's just a fantastic gift, isn't it? My friend Kayleigh was understandably eager to give it to me, and when she did, I first saw the picture, which I thought, "Oh, that's nice," and then I saw the signature in the corner, and just sat there in silence for a minute or so before finally asking, "Is that...is that...?" "It is." Understandably, she more than earned the massive hug I gave her!

Cheers, FoG, but I think that's only because my are so full of win, too, so together, we usually make some legendary combos.

It feels like brb watching torchwood, sja, k9, audios, comics, books, and all supplementary material right now.
Quite right too. And I'm glad that, in that list when it comes to the EU, you put the audios ahead of the comics and books. Not that those aren't great, it's just that the audios just feel that little that bit more authentic, especially with the performances of the classic Doctors. I even made sure that, during my marathon watch, I squeezed in everything related to McGann's Doctor. He really is absolutely amazing with just his voice, and it is a shame that he didn't get a full season on TV. Still, it does make me extra thankful for Night of the Doctor at least (still so glad it acknowledged his entire audio run in one sentence, too).
And yep, there really is so much EU to explore. Got a couple of brand new audio releases this month to listen to, including a Tom Baker story that I've been looking forward to for a while now, as it's the "first time" the Doctor meets a recurring villain in Big Finish's audios, from his perspective.

Well, I don't know. A great deal of 60s and 70s is great, true, but I wasn't too keen overall on the 80s stories (except, of course, for the final two seasons, when the show had found a new lease of life and was finally starting to become great again when the bastards cancelled it), and I think the audios have really, really breathed new life into those Doctors almost as much as they did for McGann. (If I'm honest, this is one of the reasons why, while I have enjoyed the Fourth Doctor Adventures on audio, it's not quite as much overall as the later Doctors audio stories - the Fourth Doctor had so much development on TV and was so clear cut that there's very little room for development for his character to make, although his companions are fleshed out more at least).
I think what I love about them is that they have more relaxed pacing of the classic series stories, including old-school 4-part structure (oh, I do love my cliffhangers), and personally speaking, this is one slight complaint I have about many of the newer stories of the TV series is that they cram in so much plot in just 45 minutes that there've been quite a few potentially great eps that are given a hasty tie-up at the end (Power of Three, I'm looking at you). But they also have, especially when the series came back, real added emotion and character development to them (which the classic series did have from time to time, don't get me wrong, but not quite as much as the new series has, imo). For me, the audios have consistently represented the best of both worlds and even better (the epic Eighth Doctor finale, To The Death, is kind of like Journey's End in how many members of the Eighth Doctor's family it throws in together, but if it was written by George R.R. Martin, making it one of the most brutal and darkest Doctor Who stories ever).
Still, that doesn't stop that amazing feeling you can get when watching a brand new episode. And of course, with the new series, we've got something just that little bit extra special - a new Doctor episode. So series 8 is something I'm very much looking forward to. Just over a month until August to wait.

For me I think I can concentrate and enjoy more film or a book to audio regardless of the subject.
Yeah, I can understand that. It's why I definitely prefer reading a book compared to listening an audio version of it. Even with Alan Partridge's 'autobiography' I, Partridge: We Need To Talk About Alan, I haven't listened to much of the audiobook, despite the fact that it's read by Steve Coogan as Partridge himself. But the audio dramas for Doctor Who (and indeed, from Big Finish in general) aren't so bad. It helps that they have a full cast and feel as close to watching the classic series as possible (without the tiny, tiny budget).
