It's official: while I'll be missing a top hat and a white bow tie, I'll be wearing something pretty darn close to Eleven's wedding costume in the Big Bang to my best friend's wedding on Monday. I've also promised her I'll do the 'drunk giraffe'. For reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFsJ1iWouOE

Unfortunately, I'm not sure any of my sweet, sweet dance moves were recorded. Maybe next time, though.

Would a video of me singing Ballroom Blitz in karaoke while wearing a more traditional Eleven tweed suit (complete with red bow tie and braces) be a fair substitute, at least?

Ok, so admittedly this is long overdue, but I've finally posted up my long thoughts on The Day of the Doctor (including how special it was to see on the big screen):

Yes, I noticed that. And they really did pick some amazing choices: The Mind Robber, The Brain of Morbius, Remembrance of the Daleks, far better than the omnibuses I had seen on the Sci Fi channel a while back. Heck, I was tempted to watch some of them myself, despite having every single one on DVD already.

In the meantime: I have not been able to stop re-watching the Day of the Doctor this week. Seriously - this is the 3rd time I've watched it in 4 days. (And the most likely reason I didn't watch it yesterday was that I was seeing Captain America.) I think it's the War Doctor. Every time I see him, I think I just love his character just that little bit more. The concept, the writing, his interaction with the other Doctors and especially John Hurt's beautiful performance...ugh. It's ridiculous, considering he's only been in one full story (plus the cliffhangers of two eps, one of them not even full-length), but I think he is rapidly becoming one of my favourite incarnations of the Doctor.

John Hurt has the most part in this.
His story is also a lot darker than previous Doctors; until we learn what really happened of course.

Very much so, and he also remains as one of the most tragic incarnations - the one who, even in his own lifetime, didn't feel he had the right to call himself 'the Doctor', who never actually got a chance to be the Doctor we all knew - the one who saves the day all the time with logic, companions and wit, the one who never fights in wars, only ends them, the one who fights tyrants, madmen and gods, and then rounds off his day with jelly babies and a cup of tea. The War Doctor never got to do any of those things because of the Time War, and you can tell his adventure with 10 and 11 with the Zygons was the most fun he had had in centuries. And of course, when he finally does a good action - the greatest action of all - he also knows that he's doomed with the knowledge that he'll always believe that he tried to do the opposite and destroy his world, or at least, that it'll be a long time before he'll remember the truth, and in another lifetime entirely.

And all this in just 75 minutes. Fuck, do I love this show!

I can definitely believe that (especially as a lot of the appreciation for Cumberbatch shot up after Sherlock).

after watching some of the older stories i realized that a lot of the lore that had been laid down in doctors 1-7 has basically been ignored like the cybermen's aversion to gold and there's a story that i've read online that Sophie Aldred who played Ace was contacted to reprise he role as Ace on The Sarah Jane Adventures but unfortunately Elizabeth Sladen passed away

little bit of TV trivia, i don't know who may remember the kids show ZZZap! but Sophie Aldred was Minnie The Mini Magician from Series 8 onwards on CITV's ZZZap! between 1999 and 2001.

I think I also remember Sophie from my childhood as the woman from children's programme Words and Pictures. And that was long before I found out she was in Who. That takes me back.

Only a week after I start re-watching Day of the Doctor over and over again, and then this happens: a brand new novel featuring the War Doctor (link here).

I am so stoked about this news. Not just because I loved Hurt's incarnation (as you can probably guess), but also I think we've all been dying for more in-depth stuff on the War for years. We got a glimpse in the End of Time as well as in Night of the Doctor, we've been getting a lot of build up to it lately in the Eighth Doctor audios and spin-off series Gallifrey, and yes, we finally got our first full on battle from it in Day of the Doctor, but so far, nothing in even the EU has covered it, so it'll be great to read more. Also, and I didn't notice this until it was pointed out to me: on the cover is a bronze style Special Weapons Dalek from Remembrance of the Daleks. As if I couldn't get excited enough about this book already!

I've heard rumours of the Master coming back
    Spoiler:
and, if true, the awesome idea that he might be played by Charles Dance
, but nothing about Davros so far. Still, if they both returned together...that would be interesting. It would be similar to Doomsday in how much such a clash of villains would appeal to the 5 year old in me.
