    No,
a deceased soldier of the plague was bound to the horse , and the horse then runs to the nearest town to infect the population with plague.
The dead rider is an ancient Chemical Weapon.

Yo, reviews of The Wake, Saga and Lazarus hardcovers are live. http://nottooterrible.wordpress.com

Reading: Green Wake by Kurtis J. Wiebe. It's a pretty cool weird horror story. I would be reading Brian Keene's Last Zombie I bought via Humble Bundle but I can't load it properly on my tablet.

Caught up on all my regular 2000AD progs, and currently, the strip that leaps out most is Stickleback, a series that began not long after I actually started collecting the comic. To anyone who loves steampunk and great villain protagonists, you can't go wrong with this series. The black and white artwork is gorgeous, and Stickleback is a great and colourful character. It's a wonderful mix of all kinds of great mythology and it's exactly the kind of insanity that 2000AD does so well.

Now, I've just finished reading the most recent storyline, and all I can say is: WHAT THE FUCK?!? (In the best way possible.) Because it's just ended on a major twist that only 2000AD could pull off. I'm now eager to re-read the whole series so far again to see how much it had really been built up over the past 7 years.

In the meantime: onto the annual bumper prog!

I've read about ten different story arcs of Vampirella from old b/w titles to the "masters" series by Ellis, Morrison, Moore and Millar and I just can't get into those books. Curves = good. Story = corny.

Reading: Fables Deluxe 9, Disenchanted 2, Saga 4, Revival Deluxe 2. About to start Before the Incal by Jodorowsky and Multiversity by Morrison.

New jams, can't wait to read them. Humanoids publish some really nice looking books:

I posted a "best of" list at http://nottooterrible.wordpress.com and a review of Saga 4.

Fernandito, Metabarons are next month. Pre-order it so you can lock in the price. That's stupidly cheap for how big the book is. If the price goes up, Amazon will honor the pre-order $. I'm reading Technopriests (same shared universe) and it's just as intense. It took ten years to come out. Artwork is maniacally detailed and that's not a hyperbole.

Yep. I have almost all single issues and the deluxe slipcased editions. There was an oversized, slipcased edition of two volumes before the omnibus. I still want the omnibus though, it looks so damn cool. I was really into Ellis up until a few years ago. I used to buy every single variant of singles and if you know Avatar Press at all, there are at least 5 variants for each issue. Then Ellis did me a favour and started phoning in his capes and tights stuff.

I've been discovering a lot of European books lately that go relatively unnoticed in America and if they do get translated, they're on small, specialty publishers. Man, that rabbit hole is deep.

Tbh the only Ellis I've read is Planetary, the first 4 volumes of Transmetropolitan, and Iron Man Extremis.

Which other series of his do you recommend I read? Which should I absolutely stay away from?

Also, the ending of Planetary soured me on the series a bit. It was so... anti climatic. Was expecting a lot more. Something in the vein of The Invisibles. Now that was a send off.

Almost everything by him is at the very least very good. I'm not a big fan of huge runs in general so how about some graphic novels collecting 6 or 7 issues? His unofficial trilogy from Avatar is one of my personal favourites: Black Summer, No Hero, Supergod. Stories aren't connected except loosely by theme. Gravel is great too. Make sure to look up the chronological order on Wiki or Amazon, there are a few of these. He also has these super short books, 50 pages max: Crecy, Frankenstein's Womb, Wolfskin. Come to think of it, all these titles are from Avatar.
