Well, it looks fine but I'm not feeling the new evil liquid terminator. Somehow the T-1000 CGI from 1991 looked better? Maybe because it was combined with practical makeup.
What the fuck. BASED on that? There is still only 2 Terminators.

I refuse to care about new Terminator movies. I'll just watch T2 again.

Hmm..
For me it'd be something like this
1. Terminator 2
2. The Terminator
3. Terminator Salvation
4. Terminator 3
5. Terminator Genisys
Salvation was a different take and I enjoyed it for what it was. I can stand T3, it's not good, but I don't hate it. Genisys on the other hand I could not stand. I hated everything about that movie.
I'll probably watch this new one, though probably not in theaters.

100%. I like to discover things at my own pace.
I liked Genisys for its spectacle, but as an addition to the series it was a mess. They seemed to have two or three ideas that had potential, but couldn't make them work together, and couldn't take them past those initial ideas. Ironically, I think a sequel could have actually saved it.
Dark Fate may be okay, but these "sequels/soft reboots that ignore previous sequels" movies we've been getting of late have been pretty hit-or-miss. Halloween 2018 worked pretty well, so I believe it can be done. But Dark Fate has to be more than just pandering to nostalgia, dressing Sarah Conner the same as 25 years ago, and Arnold quipping "I'll Be Back" and "Come with me if you want to live".
It may be that the basic idea of The Terminator - sending a soldier back in time to protect Sarah/John Conner from an assassin sent back in time to kill them - can't be taken any further. You end up either making the same movie, overcomplicating the time shenanigans by rewriting the timeline, or just setting the whole thing in the future after a Judgement Day that somehow still happened. None of those options have worked very well, to date.

100% agree with all this.
Also, I was a bit underwhelmed in the trailer, sadly. It didn't give me the feeling of "THIS IS A BIG DEAL!" that I thought it would've. I mean, Arnold, Linda, AND a direct sequel to T2? It should be a no-brainer. That trailer should've had my head going EVENT MOVIE! EVENT MOVIE! EVENT MOVIE!
A NEW GAME BEGINS
I will probably see it in the theater. The trailer looks promising.
It looks like they are taking the approach that I think has the best chance of success - setting the story after T2, with judgement day - or some other future dystopia - still a possibility. My fear is that it's just essentially a T2 remake; they need to do something to elevate the story beyond that, in my opinion, for it to be a success.

I will probably see this. The problem is, if you watch the directors cut of T2, with the extra and longer scenes, the ending basically wraps up the entire idea of a war, for real. But I liked one and T2, of course, so I will see this to understand what direction they went in.

As someone with blind loyalty to the Terminator franchise I'm for sure watching this in theaters.
I'm going in with sewer level expectations though, I've been burned by them in the past too much to get my hopes up it'll be halfway competent. I keep giving them my money. Oh god, I'm part of the problem.
Screw it.
There are worse ways to spend two hours.

Yeah, I’ll be seeing it too. Sometimes I way overthink these things, stepping back, looking at the series as a whole, and asking, “What can another movie add at this point? Why make another one?”. When the answer is nothing more complicated than : because people like them and the studio wants to make money.
