Cameron also endorsed Genisys so he was either paid off or he's losing his senses. Either way his involvement doesn't reassure me at all.

No one should have endorsed Genisys, especially the legendary filmmaker who created the franchise. He said he thinks of Genisys as the third movie, the sequel to T2, and a renaissance for the franchise. Ooof. Like I said, he was either paid off to endorse it to make people think it wasn't a dumpster fire or he legitimately thought it was a good film...so he's either totally sold out or he's lost his marbles. Neither tells me we're going to get another T2 out of this franchise based on his involvement alone.

I'm okay going through life pretending there are only two Terminator movies.
(Sarah Connor Chronicles was actually a good show.)
67% rotten tomatoes as of this post. I wonder how audiences will score it. Most bad ones are because of the no new idea thing too..

Endorsements mean shit to me, honestly. I remember Spielberg endorsing the second Transformers movie and that was a steaming pile of cow dung. Ultimately they just whore their names out to draw people towards the film.

IDK, the trailers look pretty good. I'll have to go see it for myself. Love a good "Terminator" film. I'll keep my fingers crossed for this one!!! lol
I don't know how I feel.... It was good. AND if there was none before it? It would have been amazing. It didn't have that "Force Awakens" feel that some have said. I just have a super hard time believing that a 5 foot tall pretty Mexican girl is gonna save the world by being a tough bad ass. Sorry.... was this movie 'ticking boxes'? Mexican's and all girl power saviours? YEP.. sure feels like it. I loved that bad Terminator but spitting apart was silly almost yet cool to see. Arnold's part? Some coolness in with sillyness. I want to love this.. I do. Linda killed it for me. And Gabriel Luna was a good Terminator. The first 15 minutes of this movie felt like Cameron and it was fuckin awesome. It didn't fall part but just could have been SO MUCH MORE. I see where they are going next should another be made and I hope it is Cameron that makes it. They need his story telling and direction to be perfect. My order is: T2, T1 and then Dark Fate though so it is not all bad.... I just LOVE Terminator.

Glad to hear you mostly enjoyed it, and want to see the next one. Seems like one to see.

Saw Dark Fate today and really, really enjoyed it. It was much better than I was expecting it to be. Started a quick write-up, but it looks like it'll turn out to be a full review. Hoping to post later.

I only linked this video for the first 6 minutes. RLM's review of the movie itself is less than stellar, but the first 6 minutes - which recap the franchise to date - are well worth watching:

I have that poster hanging in my hallway. I used to collect one-sheets, and have a lot of them, but now I rarely buy any. However, I just had to have the new Rambo and Terminator posters.

Thanks, guys! I appreciate it.
I think you both will enjoy it much more than you might be expecting.
Regarding Schwarzenegger, I said, "...the humorous, hulking, committed, and surprisingly emotional performance of Schwarzenegger." But if you want more, they handle his character super well, taking the T-800 in an interesting direction that's both new and exciting for the series. Plus, Schwarzenegger's performance is really good, too: quiet, subdued, and reflective, earning some of the best (and emotional) moments of the film.

Yeah, definitely not here (that I thought). It could've easily been a caricature in this one, but was handled great in terms of character, acting, and directing.

I don’t see the problem with that last. Sarah Connor was just a regular girl in the first Terminator movie, yet she had to be saved because she was the mother of John. She then became the badass warrior we saw in T2, capable not just of protecting him, but of training him to become the leader she knew he had to be. But the didn’t start out that way.
So it seems like this movie has parallels with that progression.

That actually got a big laugh from my audience (myself included). The bit about the butterfly pattern cracked me up.
Yeah, I agree. I can see how some people might think the film is trying to have an agenda, but my takeaway is it's showing that anyone can be a hero or a leader, no matter how much they seem like "the little guy." I think it actually works better that way. Having an everywoman as the lead automatically gets the audience to connect and invest in her story.
