YES. VERY, VERY HAPPY B.
I can't believe it, but this is opening 30 minutes away from me this weekend. Saturday and Sunday only. The only problem is there are only evening showings and it's in a not so great part of town.

El Camino looks very good. I'll be watching this first thing tomorrow!! Thanks for posting this, Bev!!! Probably would never have noticed it without your post!!!
I just watched El Camino. It fits right in with Breaking Bad. Pretty cool to see several old characters. I enjoyed it.
"One day you're going to figure out that everything they taught you was a lie."
Some interesting callbacks. Had to pay attention to what hat Jesse was wearing to be sure of the timeframe!

El Camino was sort of a mixed bag for me, not sure what to think.
It was nice seeing some of the favorite characters again but I found myself sorta bored.
I thought it felt like a long episode that left more questions than answers.. unless that was the point (trying to spin-off a new series)
To me, this did not merit the need for a movie.
I did really enjoy the acting by Aaron Paul & Jesse Plemons
“The battle between good and evil is endlessly fascinating because we are participants every day.” - Stephen King
I agree, Cook. A 2 hour run time was a little indulgent, this could have easily been an extended episode.
Nevertheless, it was still a fitting coda to the BB universe, and Aaron Paul delivered one hell of a performance. Seeing him drive off into the distance, leaving the carnage behind behind put a huge smile on my face.
Also, how distracting was Fat Todd?
It moved Jesse’s story a few more miles down the road, but it didn’t do much to develop his character.

Well, he's already had 5 seasons worth of development behind him so in all honesty I'm not sure how much more you can move the needle.
The primary goal of the film was to wrap up his story, and in that it delivered.
I thought it was real good. A solid character study. I've seen complaints about the flashbacks being unnecessary fan service. It's not fan service if there is narrative weight. Fan service is lazy. There was nothing lazy about El Camino.

Vince Gilligan and the word lazy are antonyms. The way he obsesses over even the most minute of details is a reason why the world of BB is held in such high regard.
I thought the visuals were terrific. I've never been a big fan of the photography in Breaking Bad. It's not bad or anything, but the photography was terrific throughout El Camino. Really helped elevate the material.

BB's photography is one of the reasons I put it (just barely) above some of the other all time greats. It's almost a character unto itself.
Check this article out, it showcases some of the best ones - many of them tying directly into that season or episodes themes, not just beauty for beauty's sake.
I feel the exact opposite about Breaking Bad. It has good photography sure, but there is less quality in that aspect scene-to-scene than other shows at the top of my list. But the general down-to-earthness of Breaking Bad's photography does help ground the show so it's not a negative. I just don't often recall admiring the photography in Breaking Bad anywhere near what I did in El Camino. They just had a lot more time to focus on that kind of stuff without the crunch of a season long production.

I don't know what other plans Netflix has for the Breaking Bad franchise, but I could see more one shot films. I mentioned this a while back in regards to Better Call Saul, but the Breaking Bad universe is so fertile that you can go in so many different directions.
Once Better Call Saul catches up to the Breaking Bad timeline, you could always show Saul in his new life. I would like to see a Mike prequel or even a Gus prequel.
There's just so much they can do. As for El Camino, I enjoyed it. The tricky part for some people is that what made Breaking Bad so great was the entire cast of characters. 2 hours just focused on Jesse seemed like a bit much. That's not a knock on Jesse or Aaron Paul. They are both great. I would probably say the same thing about any of the characters.

Finally watched it last night and loved it. I was always a huge Jesse fan and I was happy with the conclusion.
You don't know my kind.....You don't my mind.....Dark necessities are part of my design.....
The other thing that I thought was hilarious to me personally was the vacuum shop. I've lived in the same town for almost 40 years. There's this tiny little vacuum store in my town that's been there forever. Every time I go by that store, I say to my dad, "That place has got to be a front for something, it's the only thing that makes sense." I knew I was right!

Just got to watch it. It was a film we didn’t need. I don’t know... bored is a good way to put it. And I’m tired of prequels..... I really am. I hope we don’t see anymore from this universe. I LOVED this show and was sad to see it go but it was one of the rare times that they knew IT WAS TIME. I don’t need anymore BB and I’m excited to see Better Call Saul catch up.
