I'm challenged on an emotional level all the time. It is possible to like a movie like Weekend at Bernie's and something more thought-provoking. My taste is all over the map. When I was 9, it was all about shit like Weekend at Bernie's. I warned people this was going to happen before the tournament started. No need to trash people who liked something a little more light back in the day.

To add to this, you need to consider that we were all younger in the 80's. This was my teens, so my votes are coming from the teen in me. There were a few movies I wasn't going to vote for, but then I remembered how much I enjoyed it during the year of its release. Also, styles, fads, humor, technology change with the decades, so what was cool in the 80's may seem lame in the 2020's, but I'm going to vote like its 1990. (and not apologize for it).

No reason to apologize, just like I won't apologize for my comment. I think that your age observation is right on the money. I was 16 at the beginning of the decade and was 25 when Bernies came out, and comedies like Heathers were more to my liking. When I vote I vote with today in mind and not what my mindset was like back in the 80s itself. I vote for the films that I see as holding some longevity, the ones that have aged the best.

I understand that too, but some films hold strong nostalgic value, and therefore are still deserving of my vote. Bernie's is one of those films. I saw it with a bunch of friends last summer at the drive-in and we had a blast. I thought it held up, but that's mainly because we had that connection to the film from our childhood.

I don't think I've actually seen Top Secret but I watched the trailed and literally LOL'd. So I voted for it. That's absolutely the type of movie that I would watch and love. It's obviously along the lines of Airplane or Naked Gun.

    My wife would hate it.
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?
