    For those that have seen Hairspray, how does it compare to the recent film version? I enjoyed that one a lot.

    I enjoyed the recent one, but it's no where near as good as the original. Also it's not a musical. I definitely recommend seeking it out.
    Only the gentle are ever really strong.

    I do like that one. Travolta cracks me up but I am a huge John Waters fan from way back.
    I think it was NBC that did the recent live version. That was OK made entertaining by Harvey Firestein mostly.

    Loved it, but I thought Firestein might die during the live show. His gravely voice was much worse than I ever remembered.
