Only five spots remain and so many great and big titles are yet to be seconded!

One plug for Cat People to make it through. Really atmospheric erotic/mystery/fantasy/horror/detective thriller with an intriguing premise and wonderful feline performances by Nastassja Kinski and Malcolm McDowell.

I've only got about 20 or so movies left on my list. None that I think are really great but I liked them well enough.

Plus the rest of the un-nominated movies from the popular 80's horror franchises like Friday the 13th, Halloween and Nightmare on Elm St. Although none of those are particularly memorable either. Many of them run together in my mind and it's hard to remember which scene happened in which movie.
Hearts are tough, she said, most times hearts don't break, and I'm sure that's right . . . but what about then? What about who we were then? What about hearts in Atlantis?

That's one I wanted to second but with only 5 more to go, I have to think it through.

Also I want to give a big plug for The Big Blue. It's an amazing movie to watch even if it doesn't make it into the tournament.
Wanted: Human skin edition of The Book of the Dead. Will accept PC copy.

I've got a handful left I'd like to nominate but I doubt I will get to so....

    Body Heat
    A Room with a View
    Maurice
    Kagemusha
    Stardust Memories
The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (Cheesy musical but I love it and we are woefully short on them for this decade)

Any interest in any of those? If not, I will end my nominations now.

BTW, the soundtrack to Purple Rain is exquisite and one of the greatest of all time but the movie I am a bit dubious about.

I felt that way too but I had mentioned it a few pages back and there was no response so I thought little interest in it. There was already a Kasdan on the list and I really wanted an Ivory to make it on the list so.... Hopefully folks will seek out the unseconded nominees as well.

And that makes it 256. Our list is set for the tournament. If you're unfamiliar with some of the entries or just need a refresher, please do make an effort to seek them out on streaming or what have you, if you can. That makes things more fair. And I do think of the films not seconded as honorable mentions, so do feel free to dip into that pool as well!

I'm not sure yet when we'll start voting, but it's likely going to be one of the upcoming Mondays, January 27 or February 3.

Thank you all for such wonderful participation in the nominating process! I feel like we've gotten a great slice of all things '80s, from art-house fare to muscly action movies to cheesy comedies and teen movies. We even got all of the Studio Ghibli output from the decade!

I also had a few extreme horror/disturbing pics left but I felt like people would get mad about some of them like Cannibal Holocaust, Nekromantik and In a Glass Cage. Maybe one day we could have the Most Disturbing Movie Tournament. I would win that one.
