Wait until the Tax Bills come in and you will get them for way below issue price as they need quick cash. That's how I buy all my SK signed books nowadays.
(Hospital, legal and college bills work just as well)
I am still trying to figure out how you buy books on $1800 a year....

That was the last financial year's income (2016-2017). I've been working since I was 12 years-old and earned a lot of money previously.

What, do you keep it under your mattress? Capital gains, investment returns, or proceeds from selling books are all income.

I must've wondered into the wrong thread. I swear this one was Intriguing SK/SK related/DT Auctions. Seems Alan's financial state of being has become more so.

4-5k for a copy ? naaa .... assuming the seller has access to the original s/he could create unlimited versions... and even the copy can be replicated easy
Not sure if a copy can be qualified as a hot item, but as usual everybody defines his own boundaries ;D

I mean they said they wouldn't make any more and we know that all eBay sellers are truthful.
"In addition to the copy of the letter and the manuscript offered here, both I and the former publishing executive to whom Alan Williams handed over this package to copy and keep would be willing and happy to sign and notarize a letter stating that we will not release any additional copies of this material in the future."

I am for sure not that well educated in the "strange personal belongings and correspondence from Sai King" business, but I would say that 4.5k would be a starting price for the original.

If the seller was able to provide enough verifiable provenance that this is the original submission manuscript - even as a copy - then it would still have value.
Manuscript material comes up so infrequently that I wouldn't even begin to estimate what it is worth. Is it worth 4-5K? I guess we will find out soon enough if someone thinks so.

If the whereabouts of the "original" is not known and there is no expectation it will ever show up, AND this is the only copy, then for all intents and purposes it might as well be an original.

"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
