Yeah that's the highest price one has sold for. Did anyone see the one that was listed today from rwsellers with a "laid in" King signature? http://r.ebay.com/hRVKg4

I can tell you it has LITTLE value to me. I would pay no more than $50 for it so I didn't. I would be shocked if anyone here paid big money for this book. Has anyone bought one OR they too shy to say they spent a grand on this and could have bought a nice S/L instead with that cash-o-la? haha

Yeh....but I figure that most collectors that would be willing to pay the big bucks for this would be members here.

Funny - I'm the dead opposite.
This is the type of item where "true collectors" know that it's not a legit collectible but just a promotional item. It's a movie poster, that's it.
BUT - somebody not "in the loop" thinks it's something unique and special because they have no frame of reference to compare it too.
It is worth SOMETHING as a curioisity, but I think most of us are in agreement that this is not really a SK book. I would never pay for it, personally. Had it been signed by SK? Of course that changes everything. But it's not. If somebody's excited to pay $1500 or whatever for it, who am I to judge.
Yeah, I think it's a fun curiosity and would be happy to have one in the collection as a promotional item but never at that price. At most I would have considered it at $50-$150. Even if that is determined to be the accepted going rate and I had $1500 to throw around, there are just soooo many other things that I would rather add before even considering it.

Sorry, I'm with Bob, kind of watching and waiting. Remember the book "Dark Score Stories", it was tied into the Bag of Bones movie.
It was full of photographs with lots of King references, and at first everybody had to have one.
I love the Choo-Choo art and it is a very cool promo but that's all it is a promo...now if you could King to sign it.......
The most I would pay is $150. Also been perplexed at what the heck is up with these sales. One or two at that price would be a blip but with six having sold now over $1K it's so unexpected. There are currently another six pending. Let's see where those end up. I suspect the closing prices will start to come down now. Been enjoyable to watch it all happen though.
I bet at least 2 of the 6 won't sell for the asking price. Maybe as many as 4 won't sell. It was really smart of the one guy to start his out so low and let the madness carry it to what the all time high will be I bet. I'm going to guess that the ones currently sitting around $366 or so end up between $800-900. It is really fun to watch it all. The T-Shirt is up to about $140 .
You don't know my kind.....You don't my mind.....Dark necessities are part of my design.....
$42.25 BIN. I asked and seller said full numberline 123456789:
1982 RUNNING MAN by Bachman VG/FN 5.0 1st Signet Paperback Stephen King
The current value of said book is $1000+ since that's what it's currently selling for. Subject to change of course.
You don't know my kind.....You don't my mind.....Dark necessities are part of my design.....
Yup, that's true.
Easy for us to say "I'll only pay $50!!!" Okay - fine, but you ain't getting it for $50.
I can't think of an item where we've been wrong about the value over the long-term...if anything, we've thought books would be MORE valuable than they ended up being, so I don't think we'll be wrong this time either.
But if you "need" it right now, the value's $1000.
Another Choo Choo. FULL DISCLOSURE, I bid $300 on it, but don't see that as a winning bid, and won't go much higher:
