The seller did not buy the books at retail. It's good that they honored the price (kudos to bookmint), but rest assured they didn't lose money.

Ya, probably not. I bought my (1st) copy for 50% off during one of CD's coupon deals, so I imagine the seller got it for at least the same price or better. 20 bucks per book is still 20 bucks per book, though.
It could have been worse, I suppose, he could have listed a complete Plant set for 395 bucks...

It was George but his company is Bookmint. Then David at Bett's got his free? Not sure why he would get books to sell through his book company Ari.. am I missing something? I know he has done books with this before but not sure why CD would hand over books he had no input on...

The standard discount for dealers is 60%. If he did buy them wholesale then he likely paid $38 each, so he almost doubled his money.
"One day you're going to figure out that everything they taught you was a lie."
As always, I won't comment on specific arrangements, but our standard discount for retailers is 40% for trade hardcovers, 30% for limited editions, and 10% for lettered editions. Minimum order amount for each edition to receive the discount varies based on the product. For example, you might need to order 10 copies of a trade edition to receive 40% off, etc.
The discount we have to give the big distributors when THEY order from us is between 50% and 65% depending on the distributor.
Hope that helps!

Regardless of what he paid, it was a great deal. I've seen other dealers selling their copies for $150.

STEPHEN KING PETER STRAUB THE TALISMAN LIMITED 2 VOLUME SET GRANT PUBLISHING
The original plan was to publish only the limited and deluxe editions. Demand was so strong that Jared received permission to do a small gift edition print run as well. Not sure if there were rights issues with including the artwork but it certainly makes the limited and deluxe editions even more appealing.
Pretty good looking copy. True 1st from the looks of it. $20 BIN. I suggest you HURRY:

"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
