i hear ya hutch.
BTW... my mistake...
the felony for shill bidding: Combination in Restraint of Trade, a violation of the New York antitrust law is punishable by a maximum of four years in prison, not one...
it's the misdemeanor: Attempted Combination in Restraint of Trade, a misdemeanor antitrust violation, which is punishable by only one year in prison.
but you gotta love the fines that accompany the misdeamnor in that case... $50,000 in restitution and fines.
what we need is a few more high profile cases like this prosecuted... and widely publicized.... that might cause the habitual shill bidders to think twice.
unfortunately, with ebay's coverup policy now firmly in place... we won't get that satisfaction.
Hoorah......I concur with that!!!!
If it weren't for integrity...what would you be? Ka is a wheel.....
Sellers who list privately have generally used the " protect my bidder" claim. When in reality it may/could/should have been " stop you from contacting my bidder and warning them about my fraudulent listing habits " or the " my high bidder is my shill bidder and backed out, I'll offer it to you the second high bidder".
Now the winning bidder is revealed when the auction has ended and simply by winning has already entered into a contract with the seller.
The only reason I could see to have a private auction is if the item being auctioned is adult material or less moral items ( Nazi material for example )
Now I'm getting confused.
That press kit is awesome!

In case anyone is interested, that seller has a bunch of those DJs. I bought a set last week myself, as have other members from this site. He also has a stack of those Wizard and Glass promo paperbacks as well. I have emailed back and forth a few times, and he is a good guy.
Great info.
Thanks Tippy.
Any idea what he typically charges for the W&G promo chap?
I just got an email from Kevin, the seller who has the Desperation The Regulators Promo Dustjackets and Wizard and Glass Promo
He is willing to offer the following to members of this site:
The two DJs for $30 (shipped).
The W&G book for $19 (shipped).
OR
The two DJs AND a copy of the book for a flat $45 shipped.
To sweeten the deal just a bit, anyone who goes for the combined set will also get a sheet of two triangular stickers that were meant to be stuck on the front covers of Desperation and The Regulators to let customers know that the W&G promo was something they could get.
His email is dkev26@gmail.com and he takes Paypal.
Tell him Rick sent you!
Hi all,
Tippy (Rick) pointed me here and I'm happy to find the place. What a great site! I've been out of the King world for 10 years or so and have had my old addiction creeping back as I continue to sort through my old collection and let some of it go over eBay (which is where I touched base with Rick and, perhaps, some others of you all).
Anyway, I'm going to spend some time looking around here. If anyone has any questions about the stuff Rick mentioned, please feel free to ask.
Kevin
I bought a set of those proof dj's as well. I like them. If you put the proof dj of THE REGULATORS next to the published trade edition there are some subtle differences in the letters spelling "Richard Bachman" with the ones on the proof dj being shorter, thicker and (possibly) darker. At least I don't think it is my imagination.
