When TNLR was first published there were a few (10, I think) copies sold without envelopes. I'm pretty sure Michael Alpert was the source and were likely comp copies he got as the designer/publisher. IIRC, these were copies numbered in the high range of 490+. Not sure about this one as it has a lower number.
IMO, the presence of "extras" means little. An envelope would be nice but who really cares about a signed Tom Gordon, a quiz or a peace necklace? Nice to have but the book is the real prize.
Sure seems like number 500 or lower commands a great price. I'm a bit surprised the others went for such low prices.
It seems like bidders were wary of these books/the seller.

I'm surprised that these were signed via bookplate. I don't know how to feel about this one. Usually I don't like bookplates, but the plate is Shining/Folio Society specific and also signed by the artist, which I do like. Hmmmmmm.
