Edit: Bill, I missed your post at first. That would work perfectly fine if everyone in the book world could agree to follow the same guidelines. Instead publishers seem to want to confuse the matter from what I've seen. And I just want to smack the ones who insist on using the expression first thus.

LOL agreed. I never fail to chuckle when I see someone use "thus" in an ebay title. Why do they do it?? WHY!

"First Thus" loosely translates to "first in this manner." For example, a first paperback edition can be described as "first thus", since a hardcover true first edition had already been released. The paperback is the first version in that manner to appear.

I noticed that, too. My guess would be that someone made an offer and the seller accepted outright. I hope I didn't inadvertently ruin someone's chance at a deal by helping the seller identify what he/she had...

Don't worry, you didn't. Once the seller sent me this photo I also confirmed it was a 1st/1st Gunslinger. We were able to come to an agreement where we were both happy.

Yeah, I was watching this one intently. It really disturbs me when sellers cop to an offline offer... I guess if that's the way they want to do business; good luck to them!

I got my Carrie signed and still wouldn't pay that much for just a case.....I figure sooner or later The Collector will make one for Carrie and then I will get my case, for much less than $350 !

It's a great purchase...just a "crazy" price. Market dictates and has spoken. Who knows, it might be on a TV show soon-"Heritage Auctions-SOLD!". Certainly it makes one wonder if it is better to consign something like this to an auction house rather than use Ebay.

I would venture to say that the bigger items would sell better at auctions than on eBay. The secret is to make sure the eBay people are watching the auction as well, lol

My copy that I bought off of Cook is in better shape than the shrink wrapped one. My camera is at work, but I will take a top photo like the one above tomorrow night and post it, but showing no lean, and tight pages. Wondering on the shrinkwrap, sorry.
